Technicolor eye makeup has taken a hold on fashion month. And today inside famed Parisian brasserie La Coupole, Altuzarra tossed its hat into the graphic-gaze ring. With the ’80s at the core of this season’s inspiration, makeup artist Tom Pecheux called to mind Yves Saint Laurent’s theatrical above-the-neck aesthetic during the decade, but sought to make it feel more modern.

Creating an evolution of eye statements in a color wave of aubergine, turquoise, and forest green, the looks progressed from soft-focus washes of pigment on the lids to more saturated upward and onward with punctuated jet-black wings. Paring back the face was clean, dewy skin and a peach-nude mouth, the latter courtesy of MAC’s universal favorite Peachstock lipstick. Teamed with either sleek, side-parted lengths or a neat chignon, the subversive stamps of vivid color served as a cool contrast to the collectsion’s smart pin-striped suiting, asymmetrical leather dresses, and smocked floral-print frocks. Whether light-handed or unapologetically more-is-more, an ’80s-inspired eye flourish is feeling fresher than ever for a Saturday night.
