At this point, our morning coffee habits have become a delivery method for all the nutrients we’re trying to get in the morning—regularly sprinkling in collagen creamer, colostrum, prebiotic fiber, and probiotics. The average cup of joe is now less caffeine fix and more wellness ritual.

Collagen coffees and creamers are all the rage; but according to Spate, it’s not just a fleeting trend: collagen is up +76.3% year over year across Google and TikTok search, with caffeine seeing +645.7K increase in search in the functional beverage space. “Collagen coffee and creamers make getting adequate collagen intake to be more seamless, delicious, and easy than it’s ever been before,” explains Olive Kim, founder of Clöud Café. “Modern consumers want convenience when it comes to adding supplements to their regimen. Because coffee and tea is already a part of many people’s daily routines, adding collagen, which has so many major benefits, in a coffee or creamer format makes it a total no-brainer.”

Celebrities have stayed true to the trend—Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Aniston are notorious fans. Aniston previously told Vogue that she likes to mix a scoop of Vital Proteins into her morning coffee for a collagen boost. More recently, Cindy Crawford’s two-hour morning routine went TikTok-viral with collagen coffee playing a starring role. It’s a Vogue-editor favorite ritual too. British Vogue’s Morgan Fargo swears by a scoop into her morning matcha or smoothie.

But does collagen coffee and creamer actually transform your morning brew into a functional powerhouse? When it comes down to the research, registered dietician and founder of Real Nutrition Amy Shapiro MS, RD, says it’s “more promising” than we may think. “Studies on hydrolyzed collagen show modest improvements in skin elasticity and hydration, a reduction in joint pain (especially in active individuals or aging populations), and the potential support for bone density over time,” she says. The caveat? Results are gradual and dependent on dosage—and many of said studies are small or industry-funded. “So, while we’re seeing measurable effects, it’s really about consistency and subtle changes not overnight transformations,” adds Shapiro.

Still, collagen coffee can be a morning pick-me-up that can improve skin, hair, nails, joints, bones, gut health, and more for a radiant glow. Whether you choose to pair your collagen creamer with the real thing or swap your daily brew entirely for a new version of collagen coffee, these expert-recommended collagen coffees are a fantastic place to start.

Vital Proteins

Collagen Peptides Powder

  • Why We Love It: There isn’t anyone we know that isn’t a fan of Vital Proteins—and with 10g of grass-fed hydrolyzed collagen peptides per serving in their collagen coffee creamer and only 1g of sugar, it’s easy to see why it’s so beloved. “For skin health you want to consume about 2.5–10g of collagen peptides daily and for joint support it goes up to about 10–15g daily,” says Shapiro. “Many collagen creamers provide only 2-5g per serving, which is on the lower end and likely insufficient for noticeable results.” Simple, high quality, and results-driven, the brand makes many different collagen peptide formulas to suit a variety of needs. It hits all the notes of what Shapiro recommends looking for in a high-quality collagen coffee or creamer. “I recommend looking for ‘hydrolyzed collagen peptides’ listed clearly, third-party testing for quality and contaminants, transparent sourcing (like grass-fed, pasture-raised, or wild-caught), and minimal added sugar,” she says. Plus, it’s also widely available in grocery stores and pharmacies, making it easily accessible; and you can’t beat the smooth, clump-less finish and taste.

Clöud Café

Collagen Infused Matcha Latte Powder

  • Why We Love It: K-beauty is showing no signs of slowing down and now it’s coming for our coffee—Clöud Café makes it foolproof by making finely-milled matcha tea powder sourced from Jeju Island off of South Korea with marine collagen for big beauty effects. Studies show that marine collagen could potentially be more effective than bovine collagen. “When developing Clöud Café, we opted for premium marine collagen as the hero ingredient because it has a neutral flavor with no chalky aftertaste,” says Kim. “And we found that it’s absorbed up to 1.5x more effectively and has a higher bioavailability than bovine or porcine collagen.”
  • Key Ingredients: Marine collagen, chaga mushroom, vitamin E
  • Collagen Type: Marine collagen
  • Type: Type 1

Golde

Collagen Boost Vegan Creamer

  • Why We Love It: It may seem impossible that there’s such a thing as a vegan collagen coffee creamer (as collagen is historically bovine or marine-derived)—and technically you’d be right. However, this powder takes a plant-based approach by harnessing the power of coconut milk and bamboo extract to support hair, skin, and nail health as well as hyaluronic acid derived from fermented vegetables, and biotin to help encourage your natural collagen production. It goes great mixed with your preference of coffee. “Collagen can be taken anytime, and caffeine doesn’t appear to significantly impair absorption,” says Shapiro. The formula is 100 percent plant-based—perfect for those following a vegan or vegetarian diet who want to boost their collagen.

Primal Kitchen

Hazelnut Collagen Creamer Powder

  • Why We Love It: Keto and paleo-friendly, you won’t miss the dairy in this collagen creamer—it’s just as smooth, nutty, and blendable. One scoop packs a whopping 11 grams of bovine collagen peptides. There’s seven delicious flavors to choose from (so one is sure to suit your taste preferences). “Collagen isn’t the best-tasting, so make sure there aren’t unnecessary additives or loads of added sugar for improved taste,” says Kim. “Consumers are still looking for good taste and that enjoyability factor—at the end of the day, if you’re not going to enjoy the product, then you’re not going to commit to including it in your daily routine.” You can further customize it by enjoying it hot or cold. “Collagen peptides are already hydrolyzed (broken down), so adding them to hot coffee won’t ‘destroy’ their function,” Shapiro explains. “They’re designed to be heat-stable.”
  • Key Ingredients: Bovine collagen peptides, MCT, coconut milk powder, monk fruit
  • Collagen Type: Bovine collagen
  • Type: Type I and III

The Collagen

Iced Coffee Collagen Meal Replacement

  • Why We Love It: This collagen coffee drink has everything you need already—just add water (or milk if you prefer something creamier). It has coffee in it already as well as whey protein isolate, prebiotic fiber, and 24 vitamins and minerals—including vitamin C and MCT oil. “Vitamin C is a key cofactor in collagen synthesis,” says Shapiro. “So pairing collagen with vitamin C (either in the product or from food) may support that process.” The brand also lists the clinically-studied research about the benefits of collagen on their site for easy reading and access—a huge plus. Customers also rave at how easily the collagen drink dissolves in water, making it ideal for a morning coffee, shake, and more, without any chalkiness or clumpy texture.
  • Key Ingredients: Hydrolyzed collagen peptides, natural coffee powder, whey protein isolate
  • Collagen Type: Bovine collagen
  • Type: Type I and III

Best Mushroom Collagen Coffee: Atlas+ Latte Superblend

Atlas+

Latte Mushroom Coffee Superblend

  • Why We Love It: For those looking to streamline their morning routine (and their coffee habit), this instant coffee delivers a smooth burst of energy, claritys, and focus without jitters. It pairs 45mg of caffeine (approximately half of what a regular cup of coffee contains) with lion’s mane, cordyceps, and reishi for the best tasting mushroom coffee. It also includes other vitamins like vitamin B12, vitamin D3, and both pre- and probiotics—some extra love for your gut health and immune system. With bovine collagen peptides, it provides collagen types I and III. “Type I and III focuses on skin, hair, nail while Type II is more for joints and cartilage,” says Shapiro. “Most collagen powders are hydrolyzed, which already improves absorption regardless of type. Once broken down during digestion, the body doesn’t strictly direct ‘Type I’ collagen to skin, for example; it uses available amino acids where needed."

Everything You Need to Know

Does collagen in coffee really work?

Collagen in coffee can work, says Shapiro, but it truly depends on your consistent daily use, adequate dosage, and if your overall diet is balanced. “It’s a supportive player, so it can help but it is not a standalone solution or replacement for adequate nutrition.” It can also create something called a “health halo.”

“Adding collagen to a sugar-heavy, ultra-processed coffee drink doesn’t make it healthy,” says Shapiro. “It can distract from excess caffeine intake which can impact sleep, hormones, and emotions and it can increase sugar intake which affects blood sugar, skin health, and cravings.”

The Benefits of Collagen Coffee

Naturally produced by your body, collagen is an essential protein that helps build and maintain skin, bones, and connective tissues. According to a study in the National Library of Medicine, promising research shows that adding collagen peptides into the diet can lead to various improvements in health. Collagen coffee is one way to help make sure you’re meeting your daily collagen goals. Below, Shapiro breaks down a few benefits of collagen coffee specifically:

  • A convenient way to increase protein intake
  • May support skin elasticity and hydration over time
  • Can help with joint health, especially in active or aging individuals
  • Easy habit stacking (adding it to something you already do daily)

How much collagen should you put in your coffee?

Shapiro recommends 10g of collagen per day to see real results. “So, if your creamer only provides 3–5g, consider adding an extra scoop of collagen peptides or getting additional protein elsewhere in your diet.”
