Gabriela Hearst, the designer of her eponymous fashion label and new creative director of Chloé, sees what’s coming clearly, and that’s the climate crisis, which she says will lead to the extinction of our species if proper action isn’t taken. She says she’s able to stay optimistic about fashion because the tools to fix the crisis are there, the industry just needs to respond to pressures to use them.

In the final episode of The Future of Fashion podcast, host Hilary Milnes speaks to Gabriela Hearst about the importance of sustainable design, how she focuses her energy on improving production through areas like transportation and raw materials, and why a shift away from the obsession with newness will make for a better industry overall.
