From mantras to meditation, mindfulness to manifestation, Well Intentioned offers an intimate look at how to make space for self-care in meaningful ways, big and small.
Jennifer Aniston is something of a pioneer in the world of celebrity brand deals. While other A-listers were lending their faces to shill everything from booze to fast-food franchises, Aniston was taking C-suite positions in exchange for her influential endorsement. “I don’t want to be the face of something if it's not a part of my daily routine. That's really important to me,” says the actor, who recently signed on as the Chief Creative Officer of Vital Proteins. She is actively sipping on a smoothie boosted with the chocolate flavored collagen peptide powder as we Zoom from her home in Los Angeles. “It’s delicious!” she insists. Aniston was introduced to the brand seven years ago, when her functional medicine doctor suggested she add collagen to her supplement regimen and she quickly started seeing results. “My joints, my nails, my hair, my skin everything just started to improve,” says the 52-year-old, noting that as we get older collagen production starts to decline.
Aniston has also been in the vanguard when it comes to our changing perceptions around aging—both as a woman in Hollywood, and as a woman who refuses to see her fifth decade as a time to become invisible. “I want to be careful about the language that I use when I talk about getting older,” she says, a needle-moving decision that is certainly helped along by her age-defying body, which somehow looked unchanged in last month’s Friends reunion special that aired 17 years after the series wrapped. (That plunging black halter top, though.) Here, Aniston shares the philosophies she's adopting, the experts she’s listening to, and the coffee ritual she swears by not just to age well, but to “continue to thrive.”
