The Best Dressed Stars This Week Turned Heads

Between New York Fashion Week, the Emmys, and the Toronto International Film Festival, there were plenty of opportunities for celebrities to get dressed up. The best dressed stars at all these events were those who defied tradition by choosing striking looks that rebuked classic glamour. Hollywood A-listers did so by selecting dresses that had high-impact colors, voluminous silhouettes, or flashing sequins that couldn’t help but draw the eye in.

At the Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women dinner during New York Fashion Week, Jodie Turner-Smith turned heads in her bright tangerine Gucci chiffon gown. Emma Watson also shined at the event in her white lace Alexander McQueen design. At the Emmys, there were two standout style moments: Zendaya’s custom Valentino gown channeled Old Hollywood in a fresh way (it’s based on an archival 1980s design from the label), and Maude Apatow’s fitted corset dress by Vivienne Westwood, which put a more punky twist on the formal evening gown.

During fashion week, there were more casual style moments that made an impact too. At Tom Ford’s spring 2023 show, Erykah Badu commanded the front row in a pair of sequinned trousers, a metallic leopard print jacket, and a dramatic faux fur hat. At the Michael Kors presentation, Keke Palmer proved slinky knits can be dressy: Her bodycon yellow dress with the matching shawl jacket is perfect for stepping into fall.
