All the Notable Guests at the Queen’s State Funeral

More than 500 heads of state and dignitaries made up the 2,000 guests invited to the Queen’s state funeral at Westminster Abbey today. Among them were U.S. president Joe Biden, French president Emmanuel Macron, Canada’s prime minister Justin Trudeau, and New Zealand’s prime minister Jacinda Ardern. Other representatives from the Commonwealth were present, too, as well as British prime minister Liz Truss.

Royals from around the world have also flown to the UK to attend Her Majesty’s funeral, including King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain, Queen Margrethe and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, and Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan.

After arriving in the U.K. over the weekend, a number of heads of state visited Westminster Hall, in the Palace of Westminster, where Her Majesty has been lying in state over the past four days. King Charles III and other working members of the royal family hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace to receive world leaders on the eve of the Queen’s state funeral, with the Princess of Wales also holding a special audience with Ukraine’s first lady Olena Zelenska.

Those invited to attend the Queen’s state funeral were reportedly asked not to fly in via private jet, as well as being told to leave their private vehicles at a site in west London, from which they would be taken to Westminster Abbey via shared coaches. It is believed that a number of heads of state were allowed to make their own transport arrangements for security reasons.
