Chase Sui Wonders Brought Major Scream-Queen Energy to the Premiere of I Know What You Did Last Summer

If you’re a ’90s kid, chances are you’ve seen (and been terrorized by) the slasher flick I Know What You Did Last Summer, starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Ryan Phillippe. Now, the horror classic is back for more. While Hewitt and Prinze Jr. reprise their roles as Julie and Ray in the 2025 reboot, out this weekend, a thrilling new cast—including Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Sarah Pidgeon, and Gabriette—has been tapped to play the next generation of victims being stalked by a scary fisherman killer.

For Wonders, the chance to join the nightmarish franchise has been a total dream. “The iconography of the OG has been seared in my brain for as long as I can remember,” she told Vogue ahead of the new film’s Los Angeles premiere last night. “I’m a lifelong fan of everyone in that cast.”

Of course, Wonders is no stranger to leading a buzzy project, having also led 2022’s slasher-comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies and Apple TV+’s Emmy-nominated The Studio. But rebooting a classic horror movie with Prinze Jr. and Hewitt felt like a special treat. “Getting to act with them was so surreal,” Wonders said. “Heartbreakers and Scooby-Doo were some of my most watched DVDs as a kid. It was almost hard to focus doing the first couples takes with them. They’re icons!”

Ever wonder what goes into playing a modern-day scream queen? Turns out, acting like you are fighting for your life on set is exactly as wild as you’d imagine. “We filmed on location thousands of miles away from home, keeping nocturnal hours on night shoots, covered in blood sweat and tears, crying into each other’s arms scene after scene,” says Wonders. “It sounds traumatic, but we were laughing our asses off between every take. Jenn brought together a rare breed of young actors who are not only incredibly talented, but also want to see each other win. I love ’em all.”
