Giant Shoes, Cher, and Laura Dern All Made an Appearance at Roger Vivier’s Paris Presentation

Roger Vivier has created a very specific kind of fashion week event, inviting the celebrity superfans of the brand and bringing them all together for a totally immersive experience. Take, for example, the label’s spring 2024 presentation, in which Cher, Laura Dern, and massive replicas of the brand’s shoes in superslick pastel leathers and chic metallics were all in the mix.

Dubbed “Les Éléments Vivier,” the gathering took place inside a private hôtel particulier in the heart of Paris that spanned four different floors, each with its own theme. Creative director Gherardo Felloni showed his latest collectsion of shoes, accessories, and jewelry while Italian set designer Leila Maria Fteita (veteran of La Scala in Milan) collaborated with him on the highly whimsical sets featuring chandeliers dripping with crystal shoes, big plush hearts covered in more shoes, and a garden-like bridge area over water.

“I started with four elements: color, passion, lightness, and preciousness,” Felloni said. “For me, these four elements are the pillars of Roger Vivier. Everything he was doing had this kind of sense of humor, lightness, and also the shape of the shoes that he invented really changed everything.” Guests wandered up and down the stairs and around the winding rooms to view brand-new creations, like hand-painted tie-dye versions of the pillowy draped Viv Choc bag–in between sips of champagne, of course.

There were many photo ops with the giant sculptural shoes, such as the Viv Canard, a personal favorite of Felloni’s. After the presentation, the sculptures will be taken to the brand’s Paris boutique to show off as a playful store decoration. “Canard, which means ‘duck’ in French, is the original name that Roger Viver gave to this style,” Felloni said. “So, of course, I reinterpreted it and I changed it. I made it a little bit longer with a completely different heel. But for me, this has always been an obsession since the beginning of my career. And it’s really peculiar because it’s pointy, but is also square.”

It wasn’t just the shoes on display, either. Felloni also showcased an embellished vest (a new take on a look he did last season) along with ample jewelry that matched the shoes and bags. Think: baroque pearl collars, chunky pastel bangles, large sequined drop earrings and bracelets, and enameled floral hair clips with matching headbands. “I’m a collectsor of jewelry, and it’s really easy to design costume jewelry for me,” said Felloni. “And now it’s becoming a big business for Roger Vivier, which is really good because I think that Vivier is not just shoes, it changed the silhouette of women for decades. So, we need jewels, hats, bags…”

As Cher mingled throughout the space, she proclaimed her love of the brand as a longtime fan. Michelle Yeoh, Laura Dern, and Eve also stopped by to browse the new collectsion. Joining them were Poppy Delevingne, Carla Bruni, Camille Razat, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Emilia Jones, and Olivia Palermo—all there to witness a bash that seamlessly mixed live artisans, dream-worthy shoes, and the theatrical side of fashion.
