Kim Kardashian Turned Couture Week Into Her Fashion Playground

Just hours after Kim Kardashian made a surprise cameo in Balenciaga’s fall 2022 couture presentation earlier this week (alongside celebrities like Dua Lipa and Nicole Kidman), the star attended a dinner in celebration of the label wearing an equally-dazzling look. She wore a long, black Balenciaga sequin gown complete with a futuristic face shield that channeled one of those creatures in Alien. Sure, the look is a tad outlandish for everyday—but this is couture week! The star understood the assignment when it comes to one of fashion’s biggest events of the year, which is to embrace irreverence and risk-taking clothes. She did exactly this all week long.

In town (with daughter North West in tow) to attend shows such as Balenciaga and Jean Paul Gaultier, Kardashian took her current signatures to the next level. She kicked things off when she emerged from her Paris hotel in a camo Balenciaga tee with neon-green pantaboots: one of her favorite items as of late. Over the course of the week she turned to the controversial style three times. She also wore them in black spandex with a Speed Hunters swimsuit, and in velvet with an off-the-shoulder top and silver gas station sunglasses.

When she attended Jean Paul Gaultier’s show (where her close friend, Olivier Rousteing, collaborated with the label), Kardashian slipped into a JPG look that was fresh off the couture runway. She wore a figure-hugging pinstripe maxi dress with exposed breast cups in nude—a take on a risqué look that Madonna famously wore back in the ’90s. Kardashian even committed to the catwalk’s statement accessories, which included chained nose rings. Say what you will about Kardashian, but there’s no denying she was the week’s most watched—and discussed—VIP guest. And if you ask us, that’s a win for everybody involved.
