Inside Mytheresa’s Magical Dinner at The Flamingo Estate

A flamingo-pink estate sits atop a secluded, hilly destination overlooking Los Angeles, and yet, it feels like nothing of the city. Brilliantly designed as an ode to nature with touches of Morocco, Japan, and Europe. Named Flamingo Estate, the property’s dusty rose and orange color-blocked walls are surrounded by greenery and feature stained glass windows. It’s a hidden gem and the location of choice for German luxury fashion retailer, Mytheresa, to gather familiar faces of fashion for a lovely dinner.

Hosted by Heather Kaminetsky, President of North America at Mytheresa, and Richard Christiansen, founder of wellness and produce brand Flamingo Estate, Mytheresa set out to embrace its Los Angeles market with a night to remember. The event followed nearly a week’s worth of Mytheresa activations that included a luncheon at the Bel Air Hotel and a style suite at the Sunset Tower Hotel. “One of the things that are really important to us is creating experiences money can’t buy,” Kaminetsky tells Vogue. “Flamingo Estate is that magical place.”

In attendance were actor Olivia Perez, entrepreneur Steph Shepherd, digital creator Chriselle Lim, Tom Ford senior designer Alessandro Francalanci, Brother Vellies founder and designer Aurora James, stylist Rob Zangardi, model John Pearson, as well as stylist Erin Walsh. First, guests wandered down a winding, candlelit outdoor path, straight to the swankiest living room area, where an energetic choir filled the room with sounds of everything from Beyoncé’s “Daddy Lessons” to Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day.” On the dinner table were tall, flickering candles and elegant flower arrangements of miniature apples and tomatoes (foraged straight from Christiansen’s seven-acre garden on the home grounds.) A violinist softly occupied the atmosphere in the background. 

In stark contrast to events pre-pandemic, some guests noted the intimate attentiveness Mytheresa and Christiansen managed to cultivate for the evening. Over the chef-prepared meal, there was, for much of the dinner, not an iPhone in sight. And in the year 2021, that’s the ultimate marker of success.
