Nicola Peltz Got Glammed Up to Watch the Louis Vuitton Show From Home

Nicola Peltz has been a fixture at the Louis Vuitton shows, but this season, her view from the front row looked a little different. Though the French label debuted its spring 2021 collectsion with a physical presentation in Paris this morning, Peltz tuned in virtually from Los Angeles instead—and bright and early at that, due to the time difference. “I was up at 5 [a.m.], I actually woke up before my alarm,” Peltz says. “I guess I was really excited for the show.”

The unusual experience was new for Peltz, as this was her first virtual fashion show this season, but she admires how designers are adapting to the new normal. “Looking through screens all the time, it’s such a different way of life,” she says. While the star says she didn’t know what to expect of watching a show through a monitor, she was blown away by Nicolas Ghesquière’s latest creations and the cinematic set, which was held inside La Samaritaine, a historic department store in Paris founded in 1870. “It was incredible. It must have been so different to do a collectsion when you know people are watching through a screen at home,” says Peltz. “The clothes gave me an ’80s vibe. It was like a nod to the past, but Nicolas’s collectsions are always a step ahead. His clothes feel modern at the same time, and always into the future.”

One of Peltz’s favorite looks from the show today was the opening number which graphic sweater that read, “Vote.” Peltz recognizes the influence fashion designers have ahead of election, which has been a trend as of late, saying, “You should encourage people to vote, and however you think you're going to inspire them, that's what you should do. Fashion is such an incredible way to inspire people.” Another favorite part of the collectsion today? “I’m obsessed with the heels,” she says. The footwear offering this season ranged from clunky platform pumps to monogrammed puffer boots.

Despite the virtual nature of the show, Peltz treated her home screening like any other fashion week appearance and documented the whole affair for Vogue. "I always dress up for myself,” she says. Her day started by working with her glam team—makeup artist Andre Sarmiento and hairstylist Jenny Cho. “Glam looks very different [now],” Peltz says. “With the masks and gloves, I'm so impressed by how hair and makeup artists are so cautious, and how they’ve adjusted so quickly to this new life.” Peltz then worked with stylist Leslie Fremar to cultivate a front row-worthy look, too. “I loved my look—the leather pants with the zip-up shirt and oversized white jacket on top, with these really cool rocker boots, it just felt really cool,” she says.
