Saks Kicked Off New York Fashion Week With a Jazzy Fete

Last night, Saks kicked off New York Fashion Week in style. CEO Marc Metrick and actress Emma Roberts hosted a wild affair at the Aman Jazz club, the subterranean haunt mere blocks from the Fifth Avenue flagship. 

The party, made up of It boys and girls and cultural disruptors, encapsulated what makes the city unique. Amongst a sea of revelers, emerging designers—including Alejandra Alonso Rojas, LaQuan Smith, Alexandra O’Neill, and Jonathan Simkhai—discussed their upcoming presentations. Creative directors at the great American houses, Laura Kim of Oscar de la Renta and Wes Gordon of Carolina Herrera, held court.

Attendees dressed to impress. Ivy Getty wore lace and Emily Alyn Lind wore latex. Princess Nokia, acclaimed rapper and native New Yorker, chose a schoolgirl ensemble evocative of early Britney Spears. Nicky Hilton Rothschild donned Valentino pink, while Ezra William sported a sheer, black ensemble from the same collectsion. Paul Forman giggled with his Emily in Paris costar, Ashley Park. As expected from any raucous New York soiree, Julia Fox slithered around the dark space, heads turning as she moved. 

 When Charli XCX, the British-born pop sensation, mounted the stage, the crowd hooted with excitement. TikTok darlings, including Lucas Mornet and Cyrus Veyssi, flashed their phones toward the performance. Ahead of her 2017 hit “Boys,” the chanteuse cooed, “This one is for the gays.”

Guests danced and sang along to “Beg for You.” After Charli, Big Freedia performed a series of hits. Champagne and cocktails flowed freely. Luckily, so did caviar and pizza. 

The celebration, in addition to toasting the upcoming fall ready-to-wear collectsions, launched a new campaign starring Roberts. The surreal, colorful images champion individuality and creativity—qualities that were on dazzling display last night.
