Princess Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis Hosted a Dinner to Celebrate Her Curation of Sotheby’s Cheap Replica Handbags Auction Last Night in London

Housed in an old banking hall designed by Sir Edward Lutyens, guests took the library-style stairs up to the lesser-seen private third floor, where pale pink dahlias and candlelight festooned the room. However the cozy mood lighting could not diminish the gleam of the gems to be auctioned, beckoning us toward their glass cabinets for a close-up of jewels from the world’s leading maisons. The princess wore Prada, accessorized with a ruby-and-diamond Bulgari Serpenti necklace and an Art Deco diamond bracelet from the sale. Her sister, Maria, joined, alongside friends Princess Chantal of Hanover, Tatiana Casiraghi, Vera Santo Domingo, the HRH The Princess Jah., and Italian actress Alessandra Mastronardi—who had just flown back from her film premiere in Rome to join the festivities. And in great form Peter Dundas swooped in wearing an elaborate smoking jacket.

Before dinner there was a premiere of T.J. Wilcox’s jolly short film starring von Thurn und Taxis and her mother, Gloria, highlighting the family’s love of both collectsing and curation—from art to furniture to jewelry—as well as personal, charming anecdotes (why Keith Haring ended up doing a mural on baby Elisabeth’s nursery door!). After the screening, and with a room full of warm laughter, the guests enjoyed an autumnal feast of seasonal-vegetable salad, followed by seared halibut and a tartlet of figs and blackberries.

Wilcox regaled stories of the incredible families and characters that have featured in his films, including Stella Tennant, Deborah Mitford, and Fergus Henderson. Diamond dealer and Warhol confident Jonny Reinfeld spoke of Warhol’s love of collectsing jewelry and loose diamonds—very pertinent as far as tonight’s guest list was concerned. The guests giddied into the night no doubt writing fantasy Christmas lists: a playful pair of ear clips made of amethyst, Ceylon sapphire, and diamonds by JAR or a mighty Cartier emerald-and-diamond necklace?
