Couture by Candlelight: Vogue100 Celebrated Zuhair Murad in Paris

Beneath chandeliers and ornate ceilings in the heart of Paris, Vogue100 gathered at Baronne, the restaurant inside the historic Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild, for a glittering soirée honoring Lebanese couturier Zuhair Murad and a celebration of glamour, camaraderie, and elegance.

The prelude to dinner unfolded in two adjoining salons where light-reflecting displays of Zuhair Murad couture designs and Champagne flutes set a radiant, celebratory mood. In one room, mannequins showcased a selection of gowns—sparkling creations that epitomize the house’s signature opulence and craftsmanship. In the neighboring salon, music drifted through the space as Vogue100 and guests of the house mingled and reconnected amid the lively rhythm of Paris Fashion Week.

Conversations flowed easily over cocktails. Manuel Arnaut, head of editorial content at Vogue Arabia, spoke with sisters McKinley and McKaelyn Guidry about their ski-inspired luxury brand, X2 NYC. Elsewhere, Arnaut shared a warm reunion with his Dubai circle, including husband and wife Umar and Nada Kamani; a moment that felt like a private gathering transported from the Gulf to Paris.

Soon after, guests were invited into the dining room where a candlelit scene awaited. Bathed in warm light beneath a sweeping hand-painted ceiling, the room looked like a living jewel box. A cascading crystal chandelier scattered light across fluted columns, ornate plasterwork, and towering mirrors; doubling the glow throughout the space. Long linen-draped tables were arranged in elegant symmetry, adorned with delicate blush and ivory blooms—ranunculus, roses, and soft greenery—by Emma Sosa Studio. Slender taper candles flickered amongst polished glassware, while richly patterned drapery framed tall windows looking out into the Paris night. A warm welcome from the house expressed gratitude to Vogue for its longstanding support, setting the tone for an evening of effortless connection.

As the celebration drew to a close, guests departed with a small keepsake: a box containing a passport case embossed with the Zuhair Murad logo—a poetic nod to an evening that reunited people from across continents in celebration of fashion and friendship.
