Chase Infiniti has proven she’s a force to be reckoned with, not only in the industry, where she earned a Golden Globe nomination for her first feature film appearance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another (which also took home the Academy Award for best picture), but on the red carpet, too.
Named one of Vogue’s breakout red carpet stars last year, the 25-year-old actor and Louis Vuitton global ambassador has continued to prove why she’s worthy of the title throughout awards season in a myriad of colorful gowns. What we couldn’t help but notice, though, was another element of her glam. Be it a hint of eye shadow, a dash of eyeliner, or a hint of blush, it seems Infiniti and her makeup artist, Amber Dreadon, have the perfect formula for creating cohesive makeup looks: Matching her outfits.
“We have been keeping the makeup looks delicate, youthful, and fresh for her projects the last few months,” Dreadon tells Vogue. “And we’ve been loving the subtle tie to what she’s wearing to keep the overall look considered, but not too heavy—always prioritizing letting her natural beauty shine.”
Lilac eyeshadow, for example, was the highlight of Infiniti’s Oscars debut, while champagne eyes and a cool-toned frosted lip complemented her ballet-inspired strapless gown for the Los Angeles premiere of The Testaments, the highly anticipated sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale. A butter yellow inner corner at the Critics Choice Awards was Dreadon’s personal favorite.
The finished looks come from the work of a full team of collaborators, including Dreadon, stylists Wayman + Micah, hairstylist Coree Moreno, and, of course, Infiniti.
“That’s our super power!” Dreadon says. “We all work so well together and will often have many ideas in the works at once.”
Ideas for incorporating color into the makeup come from a few different sources, she adds. Sometimes, she’ll have an idea from a fitting and instantly know what she needs to source, but often the inspiration comes from products themselves, like a new eye shadow palette, lip gloss, or even cheek highlight, and then she’ll find a look that works with them.
Though she concedes, “Chase looks incredible in everything,” Dreadon says she especially loves her in pastels and soft colors. “If it’s a shade that leans into blush tones, we can easily tie those into the cheek color—soft pink, peaches, and tanned beige—that helps create such a flattering look and helps me keep the overall look lightweight, but impactful,” she says.
So, if you’re not quite ready to lean into the playful makeup trend, but are feeling the urge to have a bit more fun with color, let Infiniti and Dreadon be your guide.
“I always think there are no rules, but if you’re a minimal makeup wearer, it’s so easy to add a sheer wash of eyeshadow in a shade that matches your outfit to the inner part of a neutral eye to really get things to pop.”
