Demi Moore, with stylist Brad Goreski by her side, has established firm codes for red carpet dressing: sharp and sleeking tailoring via Thom Browne and Saint Laurent, glittering Gucci, contoured Schiaparelli couture and Armani gowns. But that doesn’t mean we lose moments of true sartorial delight. And so, out on the step and repeat at SXSW festival and conference in Austin, Texas yesterday, the Demi Moore dressing-up formula came with a sexy surprise—and one that rivals an iconic moment from red carpets of yore.
The actor, who was there to promote her latest project I Love Boosters, stepped out in a full look from Anthony Vaccarello at Saint Laurent: the electric blue, draped and wrapped dress featured a plunging neckline and burnt orange bow fastened at the hip, which fell away into an ultra-high slit. Styled with strappy nude sandals with cherry charms, thick gold bangles, and gold orb earrings, the look felt fun and fresh, ’70s and almost Cher-like. That leg pop? One to rival Angelina Jolie’s iconic, gam-flashing Versace moment at the 2012 Oscars.
Glam was kept to her signature style: her long, glossy brunette hair (the bob didn’t stick around for long) was styled straight to the hip by Dimitris Giannetos, with a glowy complexion and smoky eyes by Raoul Alejandre.
Moore was joined on the carpet by I Love Boosters co-stars and crew including Eiza González, Keke Palmer, LaKeith Stanfield, Taylour Paige, and Poppy Liu. Palmer, too, had a major skin-baring moment in Roberto Cavalli spring 2005: a canary yellow gown with an embellished asymmetric cut-out waist and a thigh-high slit of her own—a dressed sourced from celebrity vintage go-to Kit Vintage.
What’s next for Moore’s current press tour? The Demi Moore glam squad will always keep us gagged and guessing.
