Last week, Jennifer Lawrence showed her true (primary) colors. Today, she’s taking on another time-honored trend: the Canadian tuxedo. For a morning stroll with her husband, Cooke Maroney, Lawrence opted for a breezy denim-on-denim look, pairing an oversized button-up with loose, wide-legged jeans.

But, as ever, the actor knows that the key to a Canadian tuxedo—and really any successful outfit—is accessorizing. Lawrence kept it cool in a pair of round, wire-rimmed Thistles sunglasses and an espresso Hermès Lindy bag. Diverting from her neutrals (because, yes, denim is a neutral), she added a pop of color with a pair of turquoise Khaite ostrich leather flats.

Lawrence isn’t alone in elevating her double denim with bright accessories. In 2001, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake added some razzle-dazzle to their denim-heavy American Music Awards with diamonds and chains. More recently, at the 2025 Grammys, Kendrick Lamar doubled down on denim with a lightwash baseball cap, but also added a formidable, diamond-encrusted chain.

While Jennifer Lawrence’s take on the look is far more lowkey than Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Kendrick Lamar’s red carpet interpretations, the styling trick transcends occasion: the right accessories will elevate any look.
