Riley Keough's copper waves are aspirational, bohemian, effortlessly glamorous, and an inadvertent star of this year's Daisy Jones & the Six. That is, they were. Fortunately, her fully-revamped mane—officially debuted last night on Instagram—is just as impactful, and it's no wonder: the look was inspired by a '90s-era Liv Tyler.
“We wanted a fresh new length for fall,” says hairstylist Gregory Russell, who looked to throwback captures of Tyler (think 1994) for inspiration for both the cut and color of Keough's new dark chocolate tresses. “It's a versatile cut for cool, undone texture or a bit of polish, and the face-framing layers really suit her.”
That the makeover looked immediately natural is a testament to Keough's adaptable beauty. The actor has been blonde, burnished, and yes, brunette—but this new hue and the accompanying cut feel right on time. A sumptuous, rich brown coupled with mutable, zhuzh-able layers? Consider the shift an ode to 2023 as well as the mid-1990s.
