With the 96th Academy Awards starting an hour earlier this year, Hollywood was eager to carry on celebrations last night. And while the Vanity Fair party is always the hottest ticket in town, this year’s event (which also marked the 30th anniversary of the star-studded bash) seemed more celebrity-packed than ever.
Hosted by Vanity Fair editor-in-chief Radhika Jones, the guest list was a veritable who’s who of the hottest, coolest, and straight-up most iconic names in the world of film, TV, music, sport, and fashion. At 10pm, the line for the red carpet, which had replaced the usual signature sapphire blue, was still snaking out the door as a high-wattage crowd waited to be photographed before entering the custom-built venue attached to the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills.
Inside, as Lindsay Lohan waited at the bar for a drink, John Waters observed the crowd from a table. Sharon Stone squeezed past models Carolyn Murphy and Helena Christensen as they chatted to Paris Hilton, while nearby Jennifer Coolidge caught up with fellow White Lotus cast member Sydney Sweeney. Sophia Vergara posed for pictures with friends next to Beck as Larry David, true to form, made an early exit. And that was just in one corner of the room.
As nominees and award winners past and present—including Sandra Hüller, Cynthia Erivo, and Paul Giamatti—continued to arrive, servers made the rounds with trays of In-N-Out burgers, the classic post-awards ceremony celebratory meal. Yara Shahidi and Charles Melton lined up for pictures with friends at the VF photo booth, while Christopher Nolan grabbed a table next to the dance floor for his family and his two Oscar statuettes. Sam Rockwell and Leslie Bibb chose to stay on their feet to dance and were soon joined by Melissa McCarthy, Matt Damon, and his wife Luciana Barroso.
Outside, Steven Yeun, Chloë Sevigny, Awkwafina, Olivia Wilde, and Greta Lee all gathered around the Funke pizza bar, which was serving up wood-fired, spicy Diavola and Margherita slices. Jack Huston caught up with his uncle Danny as Jeremy O. Harris grabbed Billie Eilish to congratulate her on her second Oscar win. Moments later the crowd burst into whoops and cheers as the singer was surprised with the gift of a pink crystal encrusted clock necklace by none other than rapper Flaver Flav himself, who wore a matching one bearing his name in the Barbie font.
Other big names from the music world made an appearance including Usher, Camilla Cabello, Ice Spice and Busta Rhymes, while the sports arena was well represented with Serena Williams, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Roger Federer all in attendance. And, as the clock struck midnight, the event showed no signs of slowing down as Greta Gerwig hit the dance floor with Issa Rae. The party it seems was only just getting started.
