Louis Vuitton Brought Out the Wattage For its City of Stars Fragrance Launch

Last night, the stars came out for a presentation and intimate dinner to fête the launch of Louis Vuitton’s newest fragrance, aptly named City of Stars. Beautifully dressed guests waltzed into an expansive, open-air room on the top floor of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles and settled into a gradient of purple, pink, red, and orange directors’ chairs. Each seat was emblazoned with City of Stars on the back, which helped set the scene as master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud took the stage.

Belletrud, with the Hollywood Hills and their infamous white-lettered sign as a backdrop, explained the conception of the latest perfume from the luxury house and revealed its packaging, a starry, warm-hued Angelean cityscape by artist Alex Israel. “It’s a more extroverted eau than its predecessors,” he explained. “It’s radically focused on the special, shimmering atmosphere of a night in Los Angeles when the singular setting sun gives way to the city’s lights.” The room itself emitted the scent of the new fragrance, making notes palpable as Belletrud explained the complex citrus used like the blood orange, “there’s less acid, and it’s very long-lasting on the skin,” and the inclusion of the tiare flower and sandalwood.

As the presentation concluded, guests were ushered into the next room for cocktails, where DJ Mia Moretti spun. As the sun set, turning the Hollywood sign orange and pink, an earthly motif to align with the perfume’s scent and packaging.

Afterward, guests like Fai Khadra, Luka Sabbat, and Kerwin Frost took their seats at the dinner table, laughing and catching up. Also in attendance were Alana, Este, and Danielle Haim, Miguel, Noah Beck, Chloe Grace Moretz, Wolfgang Puck, and more.

Guests sat down to a tablescape that included Louis Vuitton luggage tags as napkin rings, embellished with Israel’s art and calligraphed menus. For dessert? A modern take on a baked Alaska that featured some of the key ingredients found in the perfume, like blood orange and coconut, providing guests a full sensory immersion into the house’s latest scent.

As the night came to an end, all were handed a Louis Vuitton gift bag with their own personal bottle of City of Stars, and everyone was sent back into the whirring, twinkling city night.
