If Mackenzie Foy looks familiar, it’s because you’ve seen her onscreen for more than a decade. At just 20, the actress already has a filmography performers twice her age would be proud of, having starred in Interstellar, The Conjuring, and Disney’s fantastical interpretation of The Nutcracker ballet. This year, Foy brings another beloved classic to life with Black Beauty, Anna Sewell’s iconic novel about the bond between a girl and her horse. Starring opposite Claire Forlani, Iain Glen, and Kate Winslet (who voices the titular horse) in the forthcoming drama, Foy delivers a scene-stealing performance. Usually, promoting such a high-profile project would involve traversing the globe for premieres and press appointments. But in 2020 the best events are low-key, so Foy headed to California’s Topanga Canyon and the picturesque Fair Hills Farms to celebrate Black Beauty’s forthcoming release. Dressed in a chic prairie look from Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, she channeled the nonchalant beauty of her character, Jo, and the remake’s Western setting.
With makeup by Georgie Eisdell and her auburn hair styled in loose waves by hairstylist Bridget Brager, Foy looked like a movie star, albeit a down-to-earth one. Here, she guides Vogue through getting ready for a press day set against a rustic backdrop.
