Photo: WhatKnot8/22My brother has always made me feel like a princess, ever since I was a little girl, and he continued to do so as I got ready for my big day.
Photo: WhatKnot9/22A lighthearted moment with some of my favorite women in the world: my mum, grandmother, sister, and aunt! One element of the haldi function is to put wheat rotis on the bride’s head. Tradition dictated that I stop them by hitting their hands with a kitchen utensil.
Photo: WhatKnot10/22My mum is applying turmeric on my skin during the haldi function. Turmeric purifies the skin and acts as a beautifying agent. It is also said that carrying out this ritual keeps the bride protected from the evil eye before the wedding.
Photo: WhatKnot11/22I wanted my henna to be personalized. As such, here’s an image of the London Eye, where Shailin first asked me to be his girlfriend, being inscribed on my hands.
Photo: WhatKnot12/22My completed henna with elements of our story, right from the London Eye to an illustration of a diamond and a shoe (symbols of both of our professions), as well as a little airplane to represent our long-distance relationship, a lotus for its religious importance to me, and loads more!

Photo: WeddingNama by Ankita & Akash18/22I’ll never forget the moment I walked into my wedding venue and looked up to see the most magnificent view greeting me. I always wanted to get married in a temple and that’s exactly how it felt like, in all of its regality.
