Photographed by Naima Green3/13“A painting by Alice Lancaster, courtesy of the all female-run Tappan Gallery. We are pretty obsessed with Alice generally. This painting, ‘Morning Stretch No. 3,’ sparked joy for us because of its playfulness, and how much it reminded us of the weirdness and beauty of women’s bodies.”
Photographed by Naima Green4/13“This is a photograph by Emily Knecht, courtesy of Tappan Gallery. I follow Emily on Tumblr and love her crying-selfie series. We have two of her photographs of women in water, Anna Le, and this one, Beach Bum, that we are going to stare at longingly come February. The photograph on the right is by Petra Collins, one of our founding members. The photograph is of Ajani Russell for a show at the Tate inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe and the desert.”

Photographed by Naima Green6/13“Our beauty room with a custom wallpaper created by Payton Turner and Joana Avillez, two founding members. As a group we came up with the idea of a toile of busy New York women running from thing to thing, in meetings, at yoga, picking up their daughters, walking their dogs, trying to not get trapped in a rainstorm.”

Photographed by Naima Green10/13“These lamps were designed by Entler and live on our worktables. The idea here was to reimaging the traditional law school table with green banker’s lamps into something, yes, more feminine, that would also make sitting and working on a laptop feel a little lighter and less oppressive.”
Photographed by Naima Green11/13An abstract watercolor by Leanne Shapton and a photograph by Laurie Simmons, two of our founding members. Both of these have not yet been hung and like most of our members, we too are a work in progress.”
