Quarantine hasn’t slowed Quincy Brown down one bit. The hip hop multi-hyphenate has kept himself busy while sheltering in place in Los Angeles, recording music, doing auditions, and celebrating his 29th birthday. Brown’s intense schedule has allowed him to have plenty of fun with fashion, switching things up each day with vintage pieces culled from flea markets, Karl Kani classics, and even a custom diamond grill. Much like his music legend father Al B. Sure and stepfather Sean “Diddy” Combs, Brown has been able to create a dramatic signature look filled with pieces direct from the runway.
During his time at home, Brown went from baseball jerseys to kimonos and Tupac-inspired hoodies. Each day he revealed a striking new look and a corresponding personal project. Here, he guides Vogue through a typical week of fashion, music, and hustle.

Let’s be honest here, mornings are just not my thing, but I was excited about this one. I had interviews lined up all morning, where I got to announce all my new projects to the press. At first, doing them via video conference seemed off, but now I have adjusted, and I’m not mad at it. Monday called for business on top and party on the bottom. No one sees below anyway. Zegna suit jacket, scarf, and Ethika boxers—I’m ready to go, but…also prepared to nap after.

Besides acting, music, and fashion, I am a huge tech nerd. I especially love the beginning stages of figuring it all out before you see things come to life. My app Fresh Crop is still doing well, and I love it when I see people using it on socials. Plus, I’m always logged on and listening to something, which led me to my latest creation. One of my most expensive tech losses was my AirPods. I misplace them all the time, and I know I’m not alone. I decided to solve my problem by creating a unique “qase” where one can insert a trackings device to ensure my AirPods can be located. The new product is about to launch, and today was the photoshoot. I’m wearing Karl Kani’s Tupac hoodie called Makaveli because I find it very inspirational.

After finalizing my trackable case, I decided to grab my Montblanc headphones and jump in my studio late last night to put the final touches on my new song, “No Stress.” I’m a nocturnal creature, so my experiential canvas comes to life when the rest of the world is asleep.
Photo: Hao Zeng4/9My studio is called Area 91 (a play on Area 51 and my birthday). It’s my sonic sanctuary and where I find my soul through music. It’s also wholly cathartic to be in there. I like to be as comfortable as possible when I’m writing and singing, so this Pyer Moss tracksuit with black musician graphics is the fit that makes everything feel so good.

Today was my 29th birthday. 29! The end of my twenties and quarantined… it’s just crazy to me. Last year, I hosted a baseball game with all my friends and family around. This year was a little different, but I was still excited because birthdays are meant to be celebrated, even in quarantine. My friends Abrima and Rosario from Studio 189 sent me this red shorts suit for my birthday because they know red is my favorite color. Thank you, ladies!

Friends and family from far and wide sent me videos and messages. It made my day, even made me tear up a little. My team sent vegan ice cream treats from Cocobella. That was the real cherry on top; having ice cream and cake that I could actually eat. Now, off to my pops for a family dinner and a good, old-fashioned pool party. So much love, thanks y’all!

Woke up a little late today, thankfully I set my Coach watch before passing out. I had to make a self-tape, so I had to get up and study those lines. I was still on a sugar-high from the day before but excited to audition and suit up in this Tommy Hilfiger fit that I was supposed to wear to a movie premiere. Welp, you know the rest! Putting it on transported me back to when I first saw the threads during the epic Tommy x Zendaya fashion show, set at the iconic Apollo Theatre in Harlem. There was a vibe in the air like no other fashion show I’ve ever seen. I remember the sound of horns and cymbals, the energy in every step from the models, and how I got completely wrapped up in the sensory overload. That [look] took my thoughts to another time when I was so blessed to be included in Netflix’s remake of A Great Day in Harlem. All of this reminded me of how proud I am of my culture, how I come from the power of legends, and how incredibly inspired I am by those who came before me. That is what sets me straight to continue what my ancestors taught me, so I have something to give to the next generation.

Baseball is my favorite sport. I miss many things during quarantine, but nothing is better than hearing the crack of a bat when it hits a ball and the cheers that follow. Instead of baking in the sun during a game, I was feeding my pet python Gemini. She’s getting huge and may need a new tank soon. I put on my version of pinstripes from Studio 189 and a Yankees jersey. Hey, I’m quarantined, so I might as well make it fashionable.

I usually wake up super early on Sundays and head to the Rose Bowl flea market. While I’m getting ready, I play the oldies like my grandpa Jake would. “Stand by Me” plays in the background as I shower (singing included). It’s a little cold this morning, so I’ll put on a sweatshirt under this Japanese kimono find that I bought at this little vintage shop in Brooklyn called Union Max. One of my favorite places to travel is Japan, so I’ll turn back the clock and focus on being at the Hanazono-jinja flea markets, hoping to stumble on more great finds. My new obsession is procuring a mix of old and new rings. Comfort is critical today, so these Karl Kani track pants are great when I eat too many pancakes after thrifting. Sneaks made for walking by Christian Louboutin.
