Finally: Richard Quinn and Moncler Throw a Party to Launch Their Genius Collaboration

DJ Fat Tony threw back his head and mouthed along to “Finally” by Kings of Tomorrow as the tightly packed crowd danced genteelly amidst waiters charming all to offload the last hors d’oeuvres on their trays. The venue was a floor at MatchesFashion.com’s handsome physical manifestation on London’s Carlos Place, which was turned over for the evening to mark Richard Quinn’s dropped-yesterday Moncler Genius collectsion. The room had been clad in Quinn’s flower-bomb graphics, which of course also featured on the pieces displayed at one end of the room and on many of the guests.

In a (relatively) quiet corner, Quinn flashbacked to a collectsion he first launched at the Genius event in Milan at the beginning of the year. He said: “It was about taking pieces that I knew could translate. So the opera coats with their big volume were something that I wanted to work to make very, very light. Obviously we used prints, but in pieces that were more like sportswear, that you could definitely wear on the slopes or on the street.” He added: “Moncler is such a huge global label, it will be really interesting to see how it goes in different markets around the world.” And will he be returning to add more Quinn genius to next year’s lineup? On that question, for now, he kept schtum.

By this point, Fat Tony had transitioned to “Single Ladies,” and the shapes thrown became even more accentuated. This was just one of many fashion fêtes across London last night, but it was a goodie.
