Not every celebrity couple dreams of magazine covers and big wedding dress reveals. In fact, for many, keeping their wedding a secret is the ultimate goal. The latest to do so? Olivia Munn and John Mulaney, who recently got married in a small ceremony in upstate New York, according to People.
Munn and Mulaney are in good company. In December 2023, Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach announced they had tied the knot at City Hall in New York, hot on the heels of a very busy year for the Barbie co-writers. And during the pandemic, when small-scale weddings were the safest option, David Harbour and Lily Allen eloped in Las Vegas and held their reception at an In-N-Out. Emma Stone and Dave McCary, meanwhile, secretly married in September 2020.
Some other stars who have pulled off the near-impossible feat of getting hitched out of the public eye? Amy Schumer, Beyoncé, and Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds—just to name a few.
Here, a look at 28 celebrity weddings we still know little about.

In early 2017, Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski—who met on the set of The Way We Get By in 2015 and were engaged in 2016—announced they had eloped. “We just took off into the country with an officiant, just the two of us, and we did our thing,” Sadoski said of their very private wedding.
Monica Schipper9/26RuPaul and Georges LeBar
RuPaul married his longtime rancher boyfriend Georges LeBar in January 2017, but the news wasn’t made public until the following March. “I’ve never said this on television before, but we are married,” RuPaul announced on an episode of Hollywood Today Live. “We got married on our 23rd [anniversary]. I met him on the dance floor at Limelight in 1994, on his birthday. So we got married on his birthday, the anniversary of when we met, this year.”

The two met in 2013 while filming Suite Française but have been very tight-lipped about their relationship. Rumors swirled that the pair were engaged and then secretly married throughout 2016, but Robbie put the rumors to rest that August when she told Extra of her wedding plans: “I can’t even get a day off at the moment, so that stuff’s gonna have to wait.” Only about four months later, the couple was married, according to reports, in a fittingly private ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia.

After 10 years together, ballerina Misty Copeland married attorney Olu Evans in a quiet ceremony at the Montage Hotel in Laguna Beach, California. One hundred guests attended the wedding, and Copeland wore a gown designed by Inbal Dror and Christian Louboutin shoes. The space where the ceremony and reception took place was apparently decorated with white and pink roses and pink hydrangeas. There were few social media snaps, and the world has yet to see any official photos, just as Copeland wanted it: “For me, I just want to have a simple, as easygoing day as I can have and not have it be a big show,” she told E! News.

They have been married for almost three years, but Kristen Bell is just now discussing the details of her wedding to actor Dax Shepard on October 17, 2013. The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony “in a tiny room in the Beverly Hills courthouse,” Bell recently told the press. “It was still one of the best days of my life,” she added. The Bad Moms star wore a black top and pants with a statement necklace, and Shepard dressed up in a tux. They said their vows in front of a judge with no family or friends present. The happy couple now has two daughters, Lincoln and Delta.

After beginning to date in 2012 and succeeding in keeping their relationship largely out of the public eye, the famed former New York Yankee married his stunning swimsuit model love in Napa Valley, California, in 2016. The wedding took place at the Meadowood resort with (reportedly) fewer than 100 guests, and Davis wore a custom tulle and Chantilly lace Vera Wang gown in a mermaid silhouette. The couple rarely made red carpet appearances together and almost never discussed their relationship in the press. Congrats to these two beautiful people for tying the knot and for keeping it quiet.

Athlete and model Aimee Mullins eloped with Homeland actor Rupert Friend on May 1, 2016—a little secret the couple shared via their Instagram feeds on their one-month anniversary. While she didn’t reveal the exact location of the nuptials, they appeared to be set in the countryside, with the ceremony taking place inside what she referred to as, “a magical hobbit-y compost shed.” The couple, who publicly announced their engagement in December 2014, were seemingly accompanied by only two close friends, one who officiated the ceremony and the other who acted as witness. Mullins also shared that it was a rainy day (hence the move in location from outside to the shed) and that she wore a dress designed and sent last minute by Olivier Theyskens.

Even though her face gave it all away during her The Late Late Show interview, Kunis remained mum on sharing any more details about her secretive nuptials to Kutcher in 2015. But just knowing these two got hitched is more than enough to satisfy That '70s Show fans who believed in Jackie and Kelso all along.

The 43-year-old actor has always kept his personal life notoriously private, and that same standard applied when he and his fiancée, robotics expert McCauley, said “I do” in December 2014.

Saldana’s relationship with Italian artist Perego is the definition of a whirlwind romance. Not only did the pair get engaged after only a few months of dating in 2013, but they also tied the knot just three weeks after he proposed. They didn’t stop there either: At the end of 2014, the two welcomed twin boys, Cy and Bowie. (A third son, Zen, followed in February 2017.)

Although small, Diaz’s wedding to rocker Madden was as Hollywood as it could get. Drew Barrymore and Nicole Richie served as bridesmaids, while guests included Gwyneth Paltrow, Toni Collette, and Judd Apatow. As for the music? Ryan Adams serenaded the newlyweds, and, of course, Lionel Richie took the stage for a surprise song.

Although their relationship has become a lot more public since then, in 2008 the music superstars got married in an intimate ceremony in Jay Z’s apartment in New York. Some lucky On the Run concertgoers were treated to a snippet of their wedding video six years later.

The two Spanish actors had known each other for years before eventually ending up together. They got married in 2010 in a secret ceremony in the Bahamas and the bride wore a dress made by John Galliano.

The two played a married couple in their movie Dream House, but it wasn’t until 2011 that they officially became man and wife when they wed in a small ceremony in New York attended by just four other people, including her son and his daughter.

They reportedly were pen pals when they were younger but in fact only met at a Mumford and Sons concert (where Marcus was the lead singer). Their wedding was officiated by Mumford’s father in the English countryside and the guest list included friends Sienna Miller, Colin Firth, and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Even though news of their conscious uncoupling was sent to Goop subscribers around the world, nobody found out when the Coldplay singer and Oscar-winning actress stealthily tied the knot in Santa Barbara in 2003.
