    Behold, on a rocky stretch of the Parisian veldt, we spot a wild ostrich—a distant cousin to the peacock, whose nervous demeanor causes it to stick its head in the sand or a cannon when it senses a street style camera pointed in its direction. Notice its zebra-striped feet, and its luxurious Céline coat, a valuable prize for illegal poaching that can fetch upward of $5,000 on the black market.

    I literally took 100 photos of Abbey Lee, following her from the Tuileries to her car, trying anything to get her to slow down and maybe look at me. “Hey! I live in your building on the second floor” (I actually do . . . didn’t seem to work though). “Hey, can I get one for Vogue.com?” “Love your outfit.” “Hey baby!” “Omg, please?” But then it ended up the first snap I took turned out to be the one I liked best.

    Lucky Amadeus Blue conducts a symphony of street style photographers. . . . “Bassoons and basset horns, like a rusty squeeze-box. And then suddenly, high above it, an oboe.
