“Thank your glam team,” reads a billboard currently perched high over Sunset Boulevard—intentionally positioned along the route that celebrities will take to the Oscars this Sunday. The message is fitting: behind every red carpet moment is a crew of widely talented, hard-working stylists, makeup artists, and hairstylists—many of whom rose to prominence thanks to The Wall Group. Ahead of the big ceremony this weekend, the talent management agency celebrated 25 years in business with a cocktail party at Delilah in West Hollywood.
Around 6:30 p.m., the chic lounge began filling with people from all corners of the fashion and beauty industries. Among them was the woman who made it all possible: The Wall Group’s founder Brooke Wall, who flew in from New York to toast to the milestone. “It’s surreal,” she told Vogue about hitting the quarter-century mark. Previously at Oribe, Wall launched the agency after recognizing a growing demand for pros. “The expertise in beauty and understanding style really came from these artists,” Wall added.
For co-heads Kate Stirling and Ali Bird, the agency has always been about championing proper representation for behind-the-scenes stars. “Celebrity became really important and a huge piece of our business,” Stirling said, recalling the early days. Bird chimed in, reflecting on one of The Wall Group’s defining moments to date: booking six of their celebrity stylists as featured talent in a Walmart ad that aired during the Oscars’ commercial break in 2019. “When things come to life after we go after it and strategize, that feels really good,” she said.
Stylist Jeanne Yang—who counts George Clooney and Jason Momoa among her clients—was one of the faces involved in the Walmart campaign. Chatting with Vogue, she admitted that she once worked 150 days without a single day off—a testament to the tireless work that goes into press tours and awards season, away from the spotlight.
Though she couldn’t attend the fete in person, Naomi Watts, who is styled by Jeanann Williams, joined in on the festivities from afar. “Congratulations to The Wall Group for 25 years! Happy anniversary, guys. That’s crazy.” the Love Story actress said. “Special shout out to my great, great friends Kate Stirling and Ali Bird: I love you guys. I could never look like this if it wasn’t for your team of brilliant artists.” (Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pratt, and Mamoa also shared their gratitude.)
Bryce Scarlett—the hairstylist behind Margot Robbie’s viral looks during the Barbie press tour— was over the moon to be surrounded by his fellow artists. “Every time I turn around, I say ‘Hi!’ to four people,” he said. Ash K Holm, an acclaimed celebrity makeup artist—who works with the likes of Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan, and Amelia Gray—echoed the sentiment, marveling at the sheer amount of talent under one roof. “Let’s just talk about all the inspiring people that are in this room,” she gushed. “They make the world go round in beauty and fashion terms.”
Guests, who also included singer Slayyyter, aesthetician Shani Darden, and nail artist Betina Goldstein, caught up over speciality cocktails—aptly named Call My Agent, NY State Of Mind, The Double Decker, and Music City Spritz—and listened to hits like Murder on the Dancefloor and fueled up on chicken tenders, pigs in a blanket, and tuna tartare. What better way to take a beat pre-Oscars, before getting back to business on Thursday ahead of the big day.
