If you think Whitney Weeks and Doug Pickett look like they jumped right out of a Ralph Lauren catalog, it’s because they actually did. “He was the face of the men’s Polo ads, and I was a stylist back then,” says Whitney of when the two initially met. Fast-forward a few years and Doug proposed to Whitney on a surf trip in Costa Rica. The two began planning their bohemian wedding on Martha’s Vineyard and ultimately exchanged vows where the horse fields meet the beach.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo1/35For our invitations, ceremony cards, and menus, I collaborated with Brooklyn-based designer Happy Menocal, who is a dream to work with. She integrated the Edgartown lighthouse, thistles, and dogwood blooms (the state flower of North Carolina, where Doug is from) into a custom crest.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo2/35My ring! It has been resized three times, hence the little bumpers on the inside—I have abnormally skinny fingers.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo3/35The stunning view looking back from the farmhouse where the girls and I got ready. The Allen is a working farm, so there were lots of animals roaming around at different points of the day.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo4/35My best friend and maid of honor, Nina, practices bustling my dress while my mom (in Ralph Lauren Collection) looks on.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo5/35I loved the low back and the femininity of my customized Lihi Hod dress, as well as the fact that it was completely comfortable. My dear friend and wedding guest Louis Angelo did an amazing job with my hair and kept everyone laughing all day.

Photo: Lucy Cuneo7/35I’m usually really uncomfortable having my photo taken, but my photographer, Lucy Cuneo, is one of my closest friends from college. She kept me relaxed and laughing.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo8/35Reed McIlvaine of Renny & Reed did our flowers for the wedding, as he had done for my sister’s previously. I loved the relaxed, bucolic feel of the bouquets and how perfectly they mirrored the location. You can also see the vintage gold lockets I gifted to my bridesmaids.

Photo: Lucy Cuneo10/35Our dog Bundles has been with me since childhood and lived with me in college. She is the best little friend a girl could ever hope for. Definitely crying in this picture!

Photo: Lucy Cuneo12/35My wedding gift to Doug—engraved Tiffany & Co. cuff links. Our good friend Ben Eskridge had to pretend to scramble to find him cuff links the morning of the wedding because they were a surprise!
Photo: Lucy Cuneo13/35The setting for the ceremony, right where the pastures meet the sea. The wedding party spent the whole previous day before the rehearsal at the beach in this photo. The little cottage to the left is where we spent the night after the wedding party wound down.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo14/35Our flower girls, Lyla Curry and Sophia Pessoa, leading honorary flower girls Bundles and Thistle. Lyla is the daughter of our close friends Bryan and Daun Curry and Sophia is my adored niece. They could not have been cuter all together!
Photo: Lucy Cuneo15/35My best friend and maid of honor, Nina Howard, is escorted by Doug’s best man, Cuffe Owens.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo16/35A shot of my parents and all my lovely bridesmaids watching the ceremony. From left to right: Daisy Johnson, Josie Nash, Kallen Knetzger, Karey Crowley, Olivia Weeks, and Alexa Pessoa with my niece Sophia.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo17/35Doug and I with our officiant, Valerie Biden Owens. Val is the best man’s mother and the vice president’s sister. She is an incredible orator and did an amazing job speaking poetically of the island, marriage, and commitment.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo18/35My older sister, Alexa Pessoa, and my niece and flower girl, Sophia. Alexa is five months pregnant in this photo! She recently gave birth to another daughter, Luciana. I love this photo of the two (technically three!) of them—they look so angelic.

Photo: Lucy Cuneo21/35We handed out little burlap bags of dried lavender with our ceremony cards—here we are exiting amid a shower of the buds! Such a happy moment.
I asked Reed to stick with a palette of whites, cream, and green for the flowers. He kept everything loose, and incorporated mosses, herbs, bud vases, and orchids under glass coverings. I truly loved working with him and what he created.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo22/35Lucy took us down to the dock for a few photos after the ceremony. We were both eager to see everyone but loved having a few quiet moments to ourselves by the water.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo23/35The cocktail tent. I had a pretty specific idea of the interior aesthetic, but sourcing vintage pieces was a challenge on Martha’s Vineyard. In the end, Reed found us some amazing pieces in New York, which we combined with local Big Sky rentals. Also a shout-out to Lisa Rainis, who facilitated this as well as much of the day!
Photo: Lucy Cuneo24/35Our signature drinks—a prosecco thyme cocktail for me, and a Kentucky Mule for Doug.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo25/35The raw bar was a huge hit—everything was delicious and incredibly fresh! Nestled in the ice are shots of vodka from my dad’s liquor company, Vermont Spirits. They disappeared fairly quickly!
Photo: Lucy Cuneo26/35More snacks provided by our amazing caterer, Annie Foley. Everything was as fresh and locally sourced as possible.

Photo: Lucy Cuneo28/35Each table was named after a town or place in the world that is significant to us as a couple. We traveled together so much for work and then when we were dating, so we had plenty of cities and countries to choose from!
Photo: Lucy Cuneo29/35Happy Menocal also painted our menus, which were adorable. We served everything family-style at the long tables to encourage everyone to share and interact.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo30/35Sharing our first dance to Otis Redding. I am painfully shy in front of groups, so this was actually the part I enjoyed planning the least! I loved dancing with my husband, though—he’s much better than I am!
Photo: Lucy Cuneo31/35Our absolutely stunning friend Davinia Pelegri, who attended with her fiancé Oriol Elcacho, another dear friend.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo32/35Listening to toasts was my favorite part of the evening. There was a lot of laughter, tears, and everything in between!

Photo: Lucy Cuneo34/35Doug and I feeding each other cake. We were a little aggressive with our slice—as you can see in the precarious tipping of our cake! It was a delicious yellow cake with fresh cream and raspberry filling.
Photo: Lucy Cuneo35/35This photo perfectly captures the feeling of the party. Doug and I are dancing with my sisters: Olivia is sporting a captain’s hat, which was one of the props from our photo booth. The party continued long after the sound ordinance kicked in!
