A weekend in the Hamptons is not complete without a visit to the Wölffer Estate. On Saturday, the vineyard known for capturing “Summer in a Bottle” celebrated 35 years with an intimate dinner hosted by Joey Wölffer, chief brand officer and co-owner of the Wölffer Estate, alongside her brother and co-owner, Marc Wölffer, and winemaking partner, Roman Roth. Guests entered the vineyard through a spectacular, floral-adorned entrance. Outside on the tasting room’s terrace lie cocktail hour, where guests could taste a selection of Wölffer’s 2000 vintage collectsion, a Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. Pictured along the walls was an exhibition of archival photos from the Wölffer Estate Vineyard’s earliest days, where Joey and Marc’s late father, Christian Wölffer had first begun his journey to realizing his dream 35 years ago. Although Christian is no longer here today, the legacy he set out is carried on through his children. “It’s an overwhelming feeling because when you’re going through the everyday notions of life, like business and family, you don’t sit back and look at what’s happening,” Joey Wölffer tells Vogue. “Today, I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about what this means. I don’t think my dad ever thought it would become this, and that’s emotional.”
For the celebratory night, close friends and family gathered together outside, where the vineyard lay as its backdrop and chandelier lights illuminated the enchanting tablescape for dinner. Guests, including Athena Calderone, Tanya Taylor, Cynthia Rowley, Lindsay Ellingson, and more, toasted the vineyard’s special milestone over a fresh summertime menu consisting of crispy zucchini, baby burrata, heirloom tomatoes, and local striped bass. The biggest surprise of the night, however, occurred during dessert. Guests were treated to the opening of “Club Wölffer” downstairs in the vineyard’s cellar, open for one night only. Guests danced the night away with what else? A glass of Wölffer rosé in hand.
