Rodarte, Tavi, and Target Team Up on Video

[Tavi] My name's Tavi from Style Rookie.

And I'm going to introduce you to Rodarte.

How old are you?

[Tavi] I'm thirteen.

Hi!

[Tavi] Backstage.

I think real style is just being unique

and taking inspiration in the clothes

from all different kinds of places.

[laughs] Hi!

[Tavi] Don't you guys have that, like,

horror movie club or something?

Yeah, we have a rolling horror night

where we get together and watch horror movies.

[Tavi] What's your favorite thing about Rodarte?

Um, them?

[Tavi] Yeah [laughs].

What's the most exciting thing for you

about the collaboration with Target?

We wanna be able to bring something to a larger audience

that also reflects what our design aesthetic is

and where our voice is.

This is one of my favorite pieces.

Especially in this 60s mustard color.

I might wear this every day, which is kinda gross, but.

The Rodarte for Target collectsion

is inspired by three movies, right?

Yeah.

[Tavi] From Harold and Maude, Boonie and Clyde,

and Rosemary's baby.

You kinda have a Mia Farrow thing going on.

[Tavi] Yeah, that's what people say.

Yeah, totally.

[Tavi] So that freaked me out.

But I mean, I don't think I look like her.

But I wish.

[Kate] All three of those films had a huge impact

on Laura and I as kids.

And they're films that you remember seeing

for the first time.

[Tavi] It looks like it's vintage.

Like a special vintage dress.

[Tavi] Yeah.

Like that no-one else has, right?

I like this and I like how they styled it

with the blue and white stripe tee shirt underneath.

[Tavi] Yeah.

I think that the pleated tulle skirt is really amazing.

I think it's a fantastic revolution of what Rodarte does

for the Target audience.

I think it looks very wearable and very age appropriate

for, probably, a range of women.

[Tavi] I love the printed tee shirts as well.

They said that it was inspired by a kimono

that their mom had.

One of my other favorites is this,

like, kind of mohair-ish

vest.

One of the other movies that inspired them

was Bonnie and Clyde.

And this is totally, like,

[mumbles] the West and getting into trouble.

Like Bonnie and Clyde.

[Tavi] What do you like the most

about doing the ad campaign here,

in kind of the middle of nowhere?

It's so beautiful and

it just seemed like the only place we would go.

And it's one of those places

that everyone should go to, I think.

Because it just changes your perspective on how you live.

[Laura] For us, North Dakota,

it's kinda the grand American landscape.

[Kate] Yeah.
