What would Princess Peach wear in 2026? Anya Taylor-Joy has the answer: blush pink and the biggest hat you’ve ever seen.
Taylor-Joy, who plays the iconic character Princess Peach in the forthcoming The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, stepped out for a photo call in Tokyo wearing a full custom Jacquemus look. Styled by Ryan Hastings, she wore a soft pink bandeau top and matching pink fishtail midi skirt, paired with an extreme wide-rimmed pink hat that framed her head like a halo—or a video game avatar. She opted for Tiffany&Co rings, with some strappy Giuseppe Zanotti white sandals.
Glam was also kept peachy keen, with a delicately glossy rose lip and soft contour by longtime makeup artist Georgie Eisdell, and her icy blonde hair straight and long in a middle part by Gregory Russell.
The Anya Taylor-Joy and Princess Peach style playbooks find themselves sharing the same sartorial vocabulary. The Nintendo character, Princess regnant, and Mushroom Kingdom head of state has kept to a uniform since 1985: a pink puff-sleeved princess dress with a bustle and flippy a-line skirt (well, as swishy as it can look when you’ve spent most of the last few decades in 2D), a jewel-studded crown, and blue jewels.
The British actor, sometimes styled by Hastings or Law Roach, also has a thing for ladylike fashions and elegant shapes—albeit with playful, sexy twists. She tends to favor ’50s-era silhouettes and super sheer gowns, structured twin sets, and statement coats. Often, she’s wearing Dior, but recently debuted the new Balmain. His and hers dressing with husband Malcolm McRae is also on the cards, while cool tones and icy whites are always her go-to.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, directed by Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath, is based on the 2007 video game and its 2010 sequel of the same name, pulling more broadly from the Nintendo universe too. Taylor-Joy stars alongside Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, and Kevin Michael Richardson, who reprise their roles from the first film. Benny Safdie, Donald Glover, and Brie Larson have also joined the cast. The story follows on from the first movie where plumber brothers Mario and Luigi journey through outer space, meet Princess Rosalina, and face off against Bowser and his son, Bowser Jr..
So far, the Japan tour has seen Taylor-Joy play around with the super feminine aesthetics of her character. In Osaka, she opted for a floral apron dress by August Barron, and had a rare denim moment in Erdem, pairing low-rise denim jeans with a bow-shouldered pink floral crop top. Princess Peach sees you, 2026.
