You’ve heard the basics: peptides are short chains of amino acids, which are the building blocks of proteins like collagen and elastin in the skin. “In skin care, they’re used because certain peptides can act as signaling molecules, meaning they can help ‘tell’ skin to support processes tied to firmness, hydration, and repair,” says board-certified dermatologist Helyn Alvarez, MD, FAAD. “Others are designed to support the skin barrier or improve the feel and appearance of skin, which is why they’ve become such a sought-after category in anti-aging formulas.”
We’ve been seeing them boom in serums and face creams; and now, they’re taking over the eye sphere too. The best peptide eye creams are the most targeted way to care for les yeux. According to Data Insights Market, peptide eye creams are positioned for significant growth between now and 2034.
Vogue’s Favorite Peptide Eye Creams:
One of the main reasons peptides have gained such momentum in skincare is their balance of efficacy and gentleness. “They sit in that sweet spot of being powerful but low in terms of irritation, so they’re safe for consistent, long-term use, and able to target multiple pathways without compromising the skin barrier," explains esthetician and founder of Ställe studios, Elizabeth Grace Hand. “In many ways, they’re replacing traditional harsher actives for clients who want results without downtime.” That makes them especially well-suited for the super delicate eye area, which has particular challenges.
According to Jason Diamond, MD, F.A.C.S, a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon and founder of Dr. Diamond’s Metacine, the skin beneath and around the delicate eye area is the thinnest on the entire body, making it especially vulnerable to signs of aging. “The under-eyes are prone to concerns like hollowness, puffiness, crepey skin, and dark circles,” he says. “Patients often notice these signs of aging sometimes as early as their 20s and 30s.”
While they’re not a one-and-done fix-all, they can help make a meaningful difference in the eye area when used consistently. "Peptide eye creams tend to perform best on early to moderate signs of aging, including fine lines, mild crepiness, and dehydration-related texture changes, while also supporting improvements in overall skin quality, including radiance and elasticity," explains Dendy Engelman, MD, a triple board-certified dermatologist based in New York City. “In addition, they may help reduce the appearance of puffiness, especially combined with ingredients that support microcirculation or barrier repair.”
With a shift towards treating the health and longevity of our skin, peptide eye creams are becoming the preventative skin-care darlings of the topical treatment world. Below, a top plastic surgeon, dermatologists, and estheticians weigh in on their favorite at-home peptide eye creams for dark circles, fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, laxity, and more.
Best Overall: Dr. Diamond’s Metacine Eye Lift Bioremodeling Peptide Complex
- Why We Love It: If you can’t get in to see Dr. Diamond for his signature, in-clinic, Diamond Facial Contouring procedure, this incredible peptide eye cream might just be the next best thing. Made with what the doctor calls a “molecular synergy” of bioactive ingredients, this peptide eye cream takes a comprehensive approach to eye aging from all levels. “In a clinical setting, we’re addressing the lowering of the brow, sagging of the upper eyelid skin, laxity of the periorbital skin, crow’s feet wrinkles, dark circles, crepiness, and more,” he says. “We wanted to formulate a topical product with highly-concentrated bioactives that addresses the complex anatomy of the eyelids to help treat those concerns at home.” It targets an array of skin quality concerns—crepiness, fine lines underneath and around the eyes, expression lines, loss of firmness, and puffiness—with multiple peptides and skin-loving ingredients, like hexapeptide-9, a power-player alternative to retinol, sh-polypeptide-47 which supports collagen structure, and a non-irritating HA-retinoid complex for deep hydration and skin renewal support. “Using a single peptide is like playing one note on a piano,” says Dr. Diamond. “But the aging process is multi-faceted; you need one peptide for tightening, another for pigment, another for vascular support, and so on.”
- Editor’s Experience: “Use the pump once to release the perfect amount of the silky eye serum onto the rollerball, and glide it in a circle (from your undereye to your brow bone). The formula absorbs instantly, leaving an invisible finish, and instantly leaves my eyes feeling dewier and refreshed.” —Brianna Peters, contributor

But this formula also pairs caffeine with antioxidants and glycyrrhetinic acid to brighten and firm the entire eye area. According to the brand, in a 8-week double-blind clinical study, this eye cream significantly improved the appearance of key visible signs of aging, including dark circles under-eye wrinkles, crow’s feet lines, and puffiness. “For collagen support and that crepey, thinning skin quality issue, I’m most interested in signaling peptides like palmitoyl tripeptide-1, palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7, palmitoyl pentapeptide-4, and palmitoyl tripeptide-38,” says Dr. Alvarez. Best Peptide Eye Cream With SPF: Dr. Few Rejuvenating Eye + SPF 15
- Why We Love It: Sunscreen is perhaps the best (and most important) anti-aging strategy on the planet—it shields our skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays that cause premature signs of aging, damage, pigmentation, and more in the first place. Formulated by top plastic surgeon Dr. Julius Few (known for his brilliant injectable “stacking” method), this peptide eye cream combines mineral SPF with powerful peptides for healthy-looking, beautifully protected under eyes. It helps address wrinkle depth with palmitoyl oligopeptides, combats oxidative stress and protects against free radical damage with ascorbyl palmitate (a form of vitamin C), and shields skin against the sun’s rays with a blurring mineral SPF 15.
- Editor’s Experience: “I’ve used this formula for a while now as part of my morning routine. It’s rich and silky enough to smooth and plump the skin under my eyes, but it’s not so rich that it interferes with a layer of concealer on top. - Why We Love It: Powered by signaling peptides (which the brand quite literally calls snake venom peptides), growth factors, and more, this eye cream is a brilliant choice for those serious about tackling fine lines, puffiness, dark circles, and crow’s feet. Among the powerful peptides? Acetyl hexapeptide-8 (also called Argireline), which is often referred to as “botox in a bottle,” dipeptide-2, a tiny peptide known to help boost lymphatic circulation to depuff, and both palmitoyl tripeptide-1 and palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7, the superstar duo for an overall anti-aging boost. It’s the peptide eye cream Hand reaches for when she wants “true regenerative change,” versus hydration. “It uses a high concentration of bioidentical peptides that mimic the skin’s natural signaling,” explains Hand. “So over time you see improvement in density, firmness, and overall skin quality—not just temporary smoothing.”

- Why We Love It: Non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic, making it ideal for those concerned about breakouts and sensitivity, this eye cream is a dermatologist favorite—for good reason. “Patients want ingredients that deliver visible results but also support the skin barrier,” says Dr. Engelman. “Peptides do both, offering a balance of efficacy and gentleness, which makes them easy to incorporate into almost any routine.” This eye treatment does double duty because it acts like a medical-grade formula with a rebuild and recycle peptide complex. “This eye cream is especially treatment-oriented and peptide-forward as it includes palmitoyl hexapeptide-12, palmitoyl tripeptide-1, and tetrapeptide-30,” says Dr. Alvarez. “It’s one that reads most like a clinic-style eye treatment for collagen support, fine lines, and overall skin quality.”
- Key Ingredients: Green tea extract, niacinamide
- Peptide Type: Palmitoyl hexapeptide-12, palmitoyl tripeptide-1, and tetrapeptide-30
- Best For: Brightening, smoothing fine lines, improving skin quality, collagen support

- Why We Love It: Peptide eye creams can target more than just smooth fine lines and wrinkles—they can also brighten, hydrate, and visibly rejuvenate the under-eye area. This targeted treatment pairs silk tree extract to brighten and lift, ceramides for barrier support, niacinamide to boost hydration, and peptides to firm, meaning skin is softer, more hydrated, and feels more supple and plump—brilliant to smooth on before makeup. “Peptide eye creams can make the under-eye area look smoother, softer, and a little more rested, but think of them as refinement, not a miracle fix-all,” says Dr. Alvarez. “The realistic payoff is better hydration, less crepiness, and a subtle improvement in fine lines or puffiness over time.”
- Key Ingredients: Silk tree extract, niacinamide, shea butter, cucumber extract
- Peptide Type: Pea peptides, darutoside
- Best For: Dark circles, smoothing fine lines, lifting, firming
- Size: 0.5 oz
Best with Growth Factors: Bioeffect 3xGF Recovery Eye Serum
- Why We Love It: Antioxidant-rich and made with incredible growth factor peptides, this cooling serum rollerball is made specifically to support recovery around the eyes. “Growth factors, like sh-oligopeptide-1 or sh-polypeptides found in this serum, essentially offer more advanced repair for healing and skin regeneration,” says Hand. “Not only can it help speed up the recovery process, but it can also make it a million times more comfortable.” While you technically don’t need to be post-procedure to reap the benefits of this eye serum, Hand especially recommends this treatment post-laser or treatment. “It really soothes inflammation and irritation and supports the delicate skin around the eye,” says Hand. “I recommend applying it around the entire eye twice a day to depuff, lift, plump, and hydrate for visibly smoother under eyes.” It’s incredibly powerful yet still gentle—and both dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested and approved for ultimate safety.
- Key Ingredients: Glycerin, hyaluronic acid
- Peptide Type: Egf (Barley Sh-Oligopeptide-1), Kgf (Barley Sh-Polypeptide-3), Il-1A (Barley Sh-Polypeptide-17)

- Size: 0.6 oz
Everything You Need to Know
Do peptide eye creams actually work?
Peptide eye creams can work—but it’s important to have realistic expectations. "The most noticeable benefit is an overall improvement in skin quality and resilience rather than a single, dramatic change," says Dr. Engelman. While peptides are incredibly supportive for skin quality, they do have limitations. "They won’t meaningfully correct deeper structural issues such as significant under-eye hollowing or true volume loss, which are anatomical in nature," she adds. “Similarly, more pronounced pigment-based dark circles or vascular discoloration often require a multi-modal approach, as topicals alone can only offer modest improvement."
In those cases, Engleman notes, peptides are best viewed as a support tool, helping to "strengthen, hydrate, and improve the overall condition of the skin rather than fully correcting" the underlying concern.
What types of peptides are best for the under-eyes?
According to Dr. Diamond, different peptides are good for different ailments—so choosing the best peptide for your eyes depends most on what you’re looking to treat. Essentially, each type of peptide has a unique function—not all peptides function identically. There’s a few different categories to put peptides in, which Dr. Engelman breaks down below:
Signaling Peptides
Signaling peptides help stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, helping improve skin thickness and firmness over time as well as smoothing and softening fine lines.
Carrier Peptides
Carrier peptides deliver essential trace minerals, like copper, to support healing and skin function. Copper peptides are especially helpful for strengthening and repairing thinner, more fragile skin in this area.
Enzyme Inhibitor Peptides
Enzyme inhibitor peptides help to prevent the breakdown of collagen, preserving the skin’s structure and slowing visible signs of aging. They also help block biological pathways associated with hyperpigmentation.
Neurotransmitter-Inhibiting Peptides
Neurotransmitter-Inhibiting peptides work to soften the appearance of expression lines by limiting muscle contraction, so they can mimic the action of neuromodulators like Botox.
What to Look for in Peptide Eye Creams
There’s a few key things to look for in your peptide eye cream. Personal preference, texture, price point, and targeted concerns all are based on what you’re individually looking for. Beyond that, there’s a few key indicators of a high-quality peptide eye cream:
Clinically-Studied Peptides
"I always tell patients to look for peptides that are clinically-studied and recognizable, such as palmitoyl peptides, copper peptides, or other well-documented peptide complexes, rather than vague “peptide blend” ingredient lists," explains Dr. Engelman. Dr. Alvarez agrees, noting that we should “give extra credit to products that have clinical testing on the finished formula.”
Supportive Ingredients
What a peptide formula is made with can affect its performance as well. "Ideally, peptides should be positioned in a thoughtfully-constructed formula alongside supportive ingredients like barrier-repair lipids or antioxidants, which help optimize their performance," says Dr. Engelman.
Delivery System
Dr. Engelman says the delivery system is often more important than concentration alone. “Peptides are delicate molecules, and their effectiveness depends heavily on stability and penetration,” she adds. “Advanced delivery systems, such as encapsulation or biomimetic carriers, help protect peptides and ensure they reach the targeted layers of the skin where they are able to effectively signal change. Even a highly potent peptide won’t perform well if it does not get where it needs to go, so formulation science really becomes the differentiating factor.”
Science-Backed Brands
Brands that put transparency, clinical testing, and safety as top priorities are essential. "As a general rule, I think it is most helpful to look for actual named peptides listed reasonably high on the ingredient list and choose brands with a strong reputation for formulation quality," says Dr. Alvarez.
