“Sauna! It helps you relax, charges up your superpowers, and takes your skin and hair to level 100, if you wet and exfoliate before. Our favorite thing is to have sauna parties, where we give our skin a boost while having fun. It’s actually more of a life hack than a beauty tip.”

“Korean women love to wash their faces with different natural rinses. When I was young, I’d wait for my mom to make rice, then rinse with the rice water, which helped brighten my skin. I also loved to do cucumber massages and wash with green tea and milk, to help soften and brighten further.”

“I grow and nurture my own aloe vera plant and use its gel for a face and hair mask. It helps moisturize and refresh my skin once a week, and I apply the gel to my scalp before and after getting a relaxer to protect it from dryness and damage. Recently, I have also started consciously drinking two liters of water per day—I find myself a lot more energetic and fresher in the face.”

“I start each day with a big glass of green juice and couple of wheatgrass shots—all made by myself for the whole family. This allows me to better start the day and detox right from the morning. I strongly disagree with the whole air-conditioning thing, as I believe it does make the air very dry. So whenever I can, I open windows and switch off the air-con. At home I have a special system that moisturizes the air and keeps it fresh and humid enough.”

“I definitely wear SPF 50+ sunscreen every day (Actinica’s doesn’t feel heavy on the skin at all) since the Australian sun is particularly damaging. I think Lucas’ Papaw Ointment is the worst-kept Aussie secret. It’s my go-to lip balm, illuminator, hand cream—you name it. Sea-salt spray is a favorite of mine for easy, textured, piece-y hair for daytime, though I sometimes do cheat and leave seawater in my hair after an ocean swim in the morning.”

“Beauty comes from the food we eat, it’s important to keep the right balance. Otherwise, what I do for an easy tip is a mask of cucumbers, where I apply round-cut slices to refresh my face. In the summertime, I wash my hair with chamomile tea. As I never dye it, chamomile can brighten up the natural color a bit.”

“My beauty secret is actually because of where I come from—my country, Japan, is between the seas and has many rivers and forests. So there is always very clean air and water, which helps everyone’s skin and health!”
