Bette Midler, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Kors, and Ben Platt Lead a Spooky Evening Benefitting New York Restoration Project

Hollywood’s Golden Age was alive and well in Midtown Manhattan Thursday evening for Bette Midler’s annual Hulaween Halloween party. The theme? Haunted Hollywood.

The likes of Dracula, Marilyn Monroe, Humphrey Bogart, and the Tin Man made appearances on the red carpet in support of the New York Restoration Project (NYRP). Founded by Bette Midler in 1995, NYRP is in its 24th year of open space conservancy. With over 200 community projects under their belt, NYRP is an important advocate in the development and growth of safe and healthy green spaces in NYC.

“I was born in New York, so I understand how important parks and space are to the city. We have five wonderful boroughs, and having green space and gardens throughout each of these wonderful communities could not be more important for both the people as well as the environment they live in,” said Cyndi Lauper.

Following arrivals and cocktails, guests were seated for dinner and the awards and greeted with a hilarious performance by Bette, her fellow The Politician co-star, Ben Platt, and Beanie Feldstein.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones were awarded the “Wind Beneath My Wings” Award for their dedicated support of NYRP.

“With the theme being Haunted Hollywood, we had to come with a big star, and what better than two of the biggest stars in town, Catherine and Michael. And I didn’t even have to beat them up! They said yes right away; I was honored,” said Midler.

Also honored were Laurie David and Ron Delsener, who received the “Green Goddess” and “Green God” Awards.

Cyndi Lauper closed dinner by bringing the crowd to their feet with a thrilling performance of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”

Among the crowd were Katie Couric, nailing Elizabeth Holmes—vial and all—Michael Kors, who served as official costume contest judge, Judith Light, Jane Krakowski, Ryan J. Haddad, Laura Dreyfuss, and others.
