“I think your taste for interiors is always influenced by your personal style, and vice versa! For my apartment, that means a simple, neutral base with interesting add-ons. It isn’t too far off from the way I get dressed—I’m more concerned with mixing textures than colors, whether that means pairing a gray couch, pale pink velvet pillows, and a marble coffee table against my living room’s brick walls or wearing faded jeans with a chunky knit and silk scarf. Similarly, my bedroom is mostly shades of white and dark wood—including a bookshelf I store my shoes on—but I added a rose pink overdyed rug to keep it from feeling too plain; I’m drawn to pieces like that with a Middle Eastern flavor. I grew up discovering the coolest stuff in my Lebanese grandparents’ home: rugs from around the world, Egyptian artwork, Moroccan floor pillows, pretty much anything you can imagine stuffed into every room. I have a few things they’ve given me, and eventually I’m hoping my entire apartment has that warm, global vibe.”

“I spend a lot of time with Suzy Parker, Penelope Tree, Kate Moss, and Emma Balfour, whose photographs, original or torn out of Vogues, adorn my walls along with some of the fashion illustrations I collectsed when writing about the artists. Another hobby is repurposing fashion pieces as home objects, so I have an Hermès scarf tied around a lamp base, and have created a still life of stacked chunky bangles.”

“I am a lover of patterns—my current favorites are Suno and No. 6—and when I was getting married five years ago, I fell madly in love with the Hermès Les Maisons Enchantées china. They’re magical, like some demented fairy tale; each piece features a different house in the woods, caught up in a tangle of trees and vines. They were, to the annoyance of several wedding guests, the only items my husband and I registered for. It was the right call; I don’t eat off anything else.”

“I tend to gravitate toward neutral-color clothes with lots of texture, which is why I love slubby linen bedding from Matteo and Maison de Vacances. I’d wear this throw if I could!”

“I would say that my personal style is generally a little bit every which way, which can be more easily defined as quirky. Each outfit is composed of a hodgepodge of my various interests at that particular moment. At the same time, at heart, I am wildly romantic. Hence my love for vintage Victorian blouses and satin nightgowns by Priamo. My more whimsical inclinations translate into old-fashioned-inspired and shabby-chic-minded decor, like my adorable mini Smeg refrigerator, classic wicker storage bins from the Container Store, and my whitewashed wrought iron bed by L.L.Bean. My mismatched, throw-everything-on style can be best seen through my tchotchkes—a cardboard cuckoo clock from Fab.com and little collectsed mushroom figurines I found on Etsy—and my throw pillows, like a brightly colored Midnat Tulipan one from France & Søn. My breakfast nook bench—it’s a Swedish-inspired color frenzy of a bench that I found at Kohl’s!—is covered and colored with throw pillows.”

“Project Repat just made me the coolest quilt out of all my random T-shirts that I love but never wear. Now I have this incredibly cozy, handcrafted quilt to nuzzle up with, which includes some of my dearly beloved: the Ramones, Bob Dylan, and Green Day! The quilt is backed with Polartec fleece made from 23 recycled plastic bottles per yard. So basically, this magical blanket has simultaneously made more room in my closet, kept me warm, and helped the environment! Not to mention, it looks great tossed over my leather chair or on my couch.”

“The first thing you will notice upon walking into my foyer is the built-in bookcase filled with high heels, evenly spaced and color-coordinated. Having just feng shui-ified my studio for the new year, I discovered the power of placing something you love—shoes—at this all-important focal point; it can set the tone for your entire home, especially when coupled with an olfactory element. With shoes situated among fashion books and atop Hermès Vetiver-scented drawer liners, it puts my personal style and my signature fragrance on display—and saves closet space to boot.”

“I never thought about this until now, but my fashion sense and home decor definitely have a lot of similarities! The foundation for both my wardrobe and home is white. I wear the color year-round, and my decor definitely matches. In the summer, I’ll mix in beach-style pieces and accessories, and in the winter, cozy sweaters are my go-to almost every day. The same goes for my home—light, airy blankets in the summer followed by warm knit blankets in the winter.” West Elm Chain Lock throw, $50, for information: westelm.com; One Kings Lane linen duvet set, $112 to 149, onekingslane.com; One Kings Lane Double Gourd table lamp, $249, onekingslane.com; One Kings Lane Venice Beach Skate Park photograph in frame, from $199, onekingslane.com

“Aside from hoarding designer candles left and right, the biggest tell that a fashion person lives in my apartment is the massive amounts of fashion photography hanging on the walls. My first ‘art’ purchase—made while I still lived in a college dorm!—was a Juergen Teller x Marc Jacobs skateboard featuring an image of Stephanie Seymour. Recently this Juergen Teller pillow has been calling my name, even though I don’t know if I could really recline on Kate Moss’s face!”
