This one is easy for me. I want a Smeg stove for my apartment. I used to have a 1932 Magic Chef, which collapsed dramatically nearly three years ago. For three years I have been cooking daily on a countertop camping stove. I desperately want to have three burners and to be able to bake again!

A painting by Nigerian artist Abe Odelina is on my wish list—he has a show in London right now and I’m completely in love with his work. In fact, if Santa doesn’t gift me one, I think I’ll treat myself.

First, a very on-theme coloring book that my son and I can enjoy. And second, I can’t seem to bring myself to spend $200 on a coffeemaker but don’t mind spending $4.50 every day on coffee . . . you do the math . . . Santa, please!

A dehydrator, which I read about in one of our stories (candy beets!) and now am obsessed with. Also: Art is always a good idea. I want a Winston Chmielinski painting. Scratch that, I want five.

Bolts of Josef Frank fabric from Svenskt Tenn in Stockholm to resurrect my husband's beloved upholstered rocker, which belonged to his grandfather and has been in storage for years. (Also needed: someone to help me correctly convert meters into the yardage necessary to cover the whole chair!)

I’ve been eyeing a set of Richard Ginori Oriente Italiano china for years. Maybe it’s time to start cobbling together a collectsion, starting with a platter, serving bowl, or just a few lowly salad plates. The only difficulty is choosing between the Malachite and Pervinca colorways.

Before moving to America, spinning around was something I only associated with Kylie Minogue. But now I am obsessed by metrics thanks to Peloton, so one of its bikes would be an interactive indulgence under the Christmas tree.
Also: I would love one of the behind-the-scenes Cecil Beaton photographs from cult classic Performance (on sale at Sotheby’s). Love the self-referential collision of these two worlds at such a transitional yet glittering time. As Beaton said of Jagger,“Like the Mona Lisa, he knows everything, has seen everything.”

While my boyfriend looked for a new mattress at Leesa last weekend, I became weirdly obsessed with its quilted blanket. It’s supersoft and wouldn’t shed everywhere like my fuzzy throws! Also on my list (because apparently I’ve only got sleep and relaxation on the brain): a satin pillowcase, which won’t dry out my hair or skin, and an oil diffuser.

Julia Turshen’s new cookbook, Small Victories, which is all about home cooking, is on my wish list this Christmas. She’s coauthored many well-known cookbooks with the likes of Mario Batali and Gwyneth Paltrow, but this one is all her. While much of my reading has gone digital, there’s still something pleasurable about holding a cookbook. I’d love to add this one to my collectsion.

It’s best not to ask questions, but for some strange reason I am obsessed with Marvis toothpaste. Aside from the random flavors that shouldn’t (but definitely do) work, the packaging exports me to a place far, far away. Perhaps a James Bond–esque chalet in Cortina, or better still, the Grand Budapest Hotel. Bottom line, I can’t get enough of the stuff. I wouldn’t say I “desperately need” it in my life, but it sure would make those mornings and evenings that extra bit enjoyable! And if you think I’m overreacting, check out the company’s website.

Political, social, and ecological wishes aside, I am keeping my little fingers crossed until Christmas for a custom Ryan Lovelace v.Bowls surfboard. These hand-shaped beauties are the couture equivalent of surfboards—Lovelace is one of the last remaining hand-shapers in the world and also happens to carve the greatest mid-length boards ever made. I think we’d have a beautiful future together, me and that v.Bowls.

I would love a copy of Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Dekalog on Blu-Ray. I never got the original DVD box set from ages ago and would love to spend the majority of my holiday appreciating the full series and following the trajectory of Artur Barciś in all his incarnations.

What I really want this holiday season is a new yoga mat, a balance ball to replace my desk chair, and a Himalayan salt lamp for my apartment. Considering all the bad vibes in the world right now, I’m doing everything in my power to cultivate good ones in my life.

2016 was a pretty tumultuous year, but there’s always room to improve it, even at the end. The non-fashion gift I’m giving (and hoping to receive)? Donations to various charities, which include Born Free, the Headstrong Project, and New Yorkers for Children.

I really want a backgammon board. There’s nothing better than playing a game by the fire on winter nights, and I’d really love a board that can be passed down from generation to generation. Aerin Lauder has a great one . . .

I would love a set of napkins from Sabahar, which makes all of its fair trade products from handspun Ethiopian cotton and silk. Also, Ethiopian Christmas is on January 7, so technically I could get these for myself a little late and still be on time by their standards!

I am hankering for a DVD of Kiki’s Delivery Service, an animated film I have yet to see but know I’ll be mad for—and that isn’t available on streaming. It’s about a lonely teenage girl who flies around the world on a broomstick, along with her talking cat. I recently saw My Neighbor Totoro, another magical film by the same director, Hayao Miyazaki.
