Has the Khaki Pant Usurped the Hoodie? 5 Ways to Wear the Look Inline
Photographed by Phil Oh1/10When in doubt, add something sporty.
Who can blame Phil Oh for photographing model Selena Forrest in a khaki pant and Rag & Bone motocross jersey combo? The top’s loud highlighter hues added an energetic jolt to the trouser’s earthy tone. Looks like this runway newcomer is one to watch on the street style circuit, too.

Koché’s streetwear-meets-couture collectsion gave an ordinary khaki the pimped-out treatment. First, the trousers were worn with the wardrobe staple of creeps: an oversize camp shirt. But really, it was the blingy jewelry that gave the khaki an update: The fat gold rings and medallion necklace made the trousers less of a big box-store bore and gave them a sleazy-chic vibe.

The über-long belt has appeared in collectsions like Vetements and Misbhv. Now, the accessory has made a cameo at Y/Project. There, a braided belt tail lazily hung from the waist of a pair of side-seam-buttoned khakis—a simple styling trick that instantly took the pants out of the office and onto the street.

Time to dig out that mall-bought wallet chain from 1997! After all, the Limp Bizkit–favorite accessory is what got model and visual artist Gia Seo noticed during New York Fashion Week. She looped the piece onto her cuff-buckled parachute khakis for a downtown feel. Fred Durst, eat your heart out!

Like fellow model Forrest, Binx Walton wore her workwear pants with an athletic top, but really, it was the shoes that made Walton’s look. For a full tomboy effect, take a cue from the model and pair your khakis with skate sneakers.
