Hunting Season Hosted a British Dinner in the Heart of Paris

Seven years after Danielle Corona married and moved to Colombia, her handbag line, Hunting Season, has gone from being an artisanal niche brand in New York to a 2018 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist crafted by 50 predominantly women artisans at a dedicated factory outside Bogotá. Along the way, the brand has also become an insider favorite among actresses like Nicole Kidman, models like Kaia Gerber, fellow designers like TyLynn Nguyen, style setters like Lauren Santo Domingo of Moda Operandi, and an array of fashion editors. About two dozen of them, including Selby Drummond, Sabine Getty, and Alice Naylor-Leyland gathered in Paris on Monday night for British comfort food, Champagne, and gales of laughter.

The intimate dinner, held in a private room of restaurant L’Entente, was cohosted by Sarah Harris, the deputy editor and fashion features director at British Vogue. “I loved Danielle the minute I met her a few years back,” offered Harris. “But even more than that, I’m just so particular about a bag, and I feel like you almost can’t improve on hers: They’re beautiful and they work. She’s one of the new generation of designers that are doing luxury with a real heritage. It feels time-honored and heirloom. Plus, I just love how much she cares.”

Harris also lent a hand on Hunting Season’s new belt bag. “She already had this clutch design, and I thought how cool would it be to put this on a belt,” Harris recounted, noting that with a two-year-old daughter, she’s constantly on the lookout for hands-free bags. Clearly, she’s not alone on that count: Practically every woman in the room tried one on as Nguyen played photographer for the night.

But even beyond the glamour of traveling to Paris often and cohosting an intimate fashion-week dinner, Corona said that her biggest gratification comes from bringing forward generations of craft and tradition. “To me, seeing what we’ve been able to build and feeling the pride of different groups of craftswomen that their bags are going all over the world makes me realize how important it is to keep putting beautiful things out there.”
