Even after years of increasingly exclusive, star-studded fetes, the annual Costume Institute gala doesn’t get any less over the top glamorous. At this year’s “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between”–themed Met Ball (co-chaired in all of its inevitably frenetic, unerringly fabulous glory by Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour) guests like Rihanna, Madonna, Zendaya, Gisele and Tom Brady, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Sofia Coppola, Salma Hayek and Wendi Murdoch swanned through the exhibition (and in the case of Selena Gomez and The Weeknd, stole private moments together amongst the art) and the European sculpture court and on to dinner in the Temple of Dendur, where the likes of Donatella Versace, Kim Kardashian West, Sean Combs, Courtney Love, Catherine Deneuve, Marc Jacobs, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Ansel Elgort, and a crew of millennial models enjoyed dinner and Perry’s artifact-shaking performance.
