Nicola Formichetti’s new New York home—much like his eclectic Diesel designs—is bursting with detail and blossoming with color. The space evokes a bona fide urban Eden. Flora is abundant—“keeping the garden fresh,” Formichetti says, is essential in creating a peaceful hiatus from the tumult of downtown. As for his taste in earthly delights: “I like a mixture of bonsai trees and tropical things,” Formichetti says, “but I try not to put too much of a ‘Japanese’ angle on it—not too much bamboo. That would be like my parents’ house.” The aesthetic is personably eclectic, yet calming despite the generally unconventional palette.
