Jennifer Lopez’s Iconic Looks Just Received a Thrilling Drag Tribute 

Everyone has their favorite Jennifer Lopez outfit. A multi-talented performer whose career progression is marked by a series of now-legendary looks, Lopez has built a fashion legacy. Last night at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, her famous style received a fitting tribute. To celebrate her contributions to music and style, Lopez’s set began with a remixed medley of her biggest hits and the reveal of multiple RuPaul’s Drag Race alums dressed as the star. Introduced by Billy Porter, whose unmatched emcee skills set the tone for the entire event, each queen delivered their take on J.Lo’s allure. 

Led by season 14’s Kerri Colby, who emerged in the unforgettable Versace palm print gown from the 2000 Grammy Awards worn over a crystal-covered bodysuit by Julian Mendez Couture, the group showcased the many versions of Lopez we’ve seen during her decades in the spotlight. There were fresh takes on J.Lo’s contemporary looks—Morgan McMichaels revisited the Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda cape she wore to the brand’s Venetian couture show in August—alongside references from her past—Melissa BeFierce sauntered out as Selena Quintanilla, Lopez’s breakthrough role. Though they approached the topic from different angles, each performer captured Lopez’s vibrant energy and the unapologetic glamour she’s brought to both the red carpet and the stage.

As the recipient of the event’s Icon Award, Lopez has proven her staying power, but the spirited trip through her fashion history underscored why she remains relevant. Many stars market themselves as triple threats, but few have managed to entertain on multiple fronts with as much style. Accepting the honor from long-time collaborator LL Cool J while wearing an olive-toned transparent tulle gown from Stéphane Rolland’s spring 2022 couture collectsion, Lopez thanked the crowd for their ongoing support while assuring them the best was yet to come. “You guys are the ones who give me the opportunity to live a life I couldn’t have even imagined coming true when I was growing up in the Bronx,” she shared in her speech. “And let me tell you something—I’m only just getting started.”
