    We visited the Mercer House, the home of Jim Williams, a decorator and reservationist on whom the novel and film Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil was based.

    We visited the Bonaventure Cemetery, which I found so beautiful and serene. This mausoleum was particularly arresting.

    The evening before my talk, we had dinner at the Smithfield Cottage, graciously hosted by President Wallace. She had found and installed vintage pinball machines in the parlor—we couldn't resist giving them a try!

    On our way to the talk, we drove by the iconic SCAD cinema—we had also gone to the Leopold’s Ice Cream the day before. (I recommend the Honey Almond and Cream flavor!)
