Inside Métier’s Design Studio Dinner Party

To host her first event in a while, Métier founder Melissa Morris knew of one thing: she didn't want the meal served in a restaurant. So, she called up furniture designer Anna Karlin to ask if her Lower East Side gallery space was available (it was) and chef Woldy Kusina to whip up a vegan menu. And to help her cohost the dinner, actress Emily Mortimer did the job.

"Emily was first a customer before she was a friend," Morris admitted. After Mortimer picked up Métier's Perriand, she inquired after the designer and soon, the two kicked it off.

Attendees of the atmospheric dinner included Jade Eshete (who wore a chic emerald green silk ensemble), JoAni Johnson (a vision in pearly white satin), Leandra Medine, and artist Daniel Clurman. First guests gathered for a cocktail hour—around them Métier's newest wares were on display and it was hard not to ogle them. In addition to artisan-crafted leather goods for travel and every day, there were pretty little things to make life more beautiful and functional. There's a chess set crafted with leather, ebony, and olive wood and a productivity box where papers, tech, and work-related paraphernalia can be stored in the most elegant of ways.

Guests toasted Morris's first trip to New York in quite some time before settling into the dinners. There was talk of borders openings, an influx of tourists to Manhattan, and holiday plans. Travel was on the brain for sure, and luckily, Métier's got some great things to get you from A to B.
