Havana Nights: PatBo and The Couture Council Young Patrons Celebrated the Museum at FIT’s Newest Exhibition

Last night, The Couture Council Young Patrons of the Museum at FIT and Brazilian brand PatBo came together to honor Latin American and Latinx fashion designers with a cozy dinner infused with Cuban and Mexican flavors. Lizzie Asher and Adrien Lesser emceed the evening at Café Habana with chef and owner Luke Thomas, who whipped up savory delights like grilled corn with crumbly Cotija cheese and Tostones.

The Museum at FIT’s exhibition ¡Moda Hoy! Latin American and Latinx Fashion Design Today, highlighted a myriad of designers; fashions from Adolfo, Víctor Alfaro, Maria Cornejo, Oscar de la Renta, Luis Estévez, Carlos Falchi, Carolina Herrera, and Isabel Toledo were featured. Organized by Tanya Melendez-Escalante, MFIT’s senior curator of education and public programs, and Melissa Marra-Alvarez, MFIT’s curator of education and research, the stunning showcase is on display now.

To commemorate the exhibition’s opening, guests sipped on Casamigos and dined on Cubano sandwiches as the sultry lyrics to Compay Segundo’s “Guajira Guantanamera” crooned over the speakers. Among the attendees were: Kimberly Drew, Jonathan Cohen, Sarah Hoover, Nikki Kynard, Gabby Prescod, Sandrine Charles, Ashley James, and more.

Bestselling author and creator of Sex and The City, Candace Bushnell, was also in attendance–no doubt cheering to her show’s anniversary, which coincidentally debuted 25 years ago the very same day.

And just like that, the evening came to an end…but not without some late-night salsa dancing which lasted well into the evening.
