Photo: Laura Kleinhenz1/19I enlisted Sharon Sacks to help me with planning the big surprise. Sharon and I had several meetings including a walk through of the space in Santa Barbara. I knew I needed someone of Sharon’s caliber to pull this off!
Photo: Dar Riser2/19Kimberly knew only three things about the event: the date, that she needed to get our girls' dresses, and of course a gown for herself. J'Aton Couture created Kimberly’s beautiful, custom couture dress. When I first saw her, she literally took my breath away—she looked so graceful and beautiful.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography3/19Anthony and Jacob designed Kimberly's dress. They came all the way from Melbourne, Australia, to dress her on this special day. I love this photo. She looks like a timeless beauty. You don't see this type of grace anymore. Women sometimes feel they have to show so much skin to be sexy but elegance is timeless and will always be sexy.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography4/19My brother-in-law, Browne Andrews, collaborated with Waraire Boswell to design my suit. Here he is placing my brooch on my lapel prior to the wedding.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography5/19This is the flair Browne added to my suit, a bee brooch from Arete Collection. It gave my look a special touch.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography6/19Seeing our son Tyson walk Kimberly down the aisle was a very proud moment for me. I've always encouraged him to be the man of the house when my job takes me away, and he took this job just as seriously. It was very emotional watching all of my children be a part of the ceremony. It felt a bit like time travel—reflecting on our vows from ten years ago and then redoing them again.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography7/19Kimberly's bouquet of orchids was beautiful and selected based on the overall decor.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography8/19Kimberly and I watching Goapele perform "Closer." It was a very intimate moment for us as the song is really significant to our relationship.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography9/19Carl Lentz, who is our pastor and one of our close friends, performed the vow renewal. Carl is like a brother to me, and I'm not quite sure what's happening, but, I love how happy we all look in this photo.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography10/19Kimberly has always been amazing with her words and expressing her feelings and in this moment she was reading me her vows. I was very emotional and proud listening to her reflect on our journey together.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography11/19I was overwhelmed to see and feel the love and support from our family and dear friends as we were leaving the ceremony.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography12/19I always envisioned having a beachside wedding, and I wanted it feel sexy and chic. To see my vision come to fruition was very gratifying. The night was visually stunning with the water and clouds creating the perfect backdrop.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography13/19Dinner served 130 guests. I wanted it to be an experience both visually and emotionally for everyone.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography14/19I have to thank Sharon Sacks for walking me through the details. She expressed how important it was for the menu to be elegant with letterpressing.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography15/19There’s nothing sexier than a candlelight dinner with waves crashing behind you.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography16/19We snuck away from the dinner reception to capture some beautiful photographs of just the two of us.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography17/19I wanted every detail of the wedding to be meaningful so I allowed my children to design the cake. I gave each of them a layer and as you can see Jean-Michel Basquiat was a great influence in their artwork. He is one of our family's favorite artists.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography18/19It was more about my children in this moment than cutting the cake—they were so excited to see what they'd created.
Photo: Simone & Martin Photography19/19I surprised Kimberly with Daley, another one of her favorite singers for our first dance. We stayed on the dance floor almost all evening and the party didn't end until 2:00 a.m.
