We spend New Year’s in the Catskills with our dear friends. The plan is for the kids to take snowboarding lessons. I truly hate the cold, so if I leave the lodge you can bet I’ll be layered up. I spied this Patagonia men’s pullover on a friend who works at Goop—who knew it gets cold enough for down in L.A.? I’ll pair it with comfy Adidas by SMcC boots, flannel-lined jeans from L.L.Bean, and a trusty Steven Alan cashmere hat.

I’m planning to go home to London for the holidays, and packing lots of things from my favorite British designers, naturally, including a mesh Marques ‘ Almieda sweater (great for layering under party dresses on a midwinter’s night in London), baggy unisex denim by Alex Mullins, and my favorite new shirt from Bruta, which comes with these swirly Matisse-style motifs. I’m a big fan of sensible English footwear, so my Clarks Wallabees will definitely get thrown in the bag, too.

I went on my holiday vacation early but it still felt festive! My husband and I went to Monrovia, Liberia, to visit our friend’s soccer academy there and I packed for very hot, very humid days and nights. My staples were T-shirts from Uniform, a Liberian-owned company producing chic basics in fair-trade-certified African factories, which felt appropriate for the trip, especially because for every item you buy, a school uniform is donated to a student in Liberia. I love the organic cotton tee and reversible bomber. I also packed my Dôen Prem dress for a reception at the U.S. Embassy and Biarritz jumpsuit for running around during the day. I only packed one purse so a woven Colombian mochila from Shop Latitude worked with everything. And my shashi tassel earrings liven up any outfit.

I’m heading to Sun Valley for some skiing with my family. I’ll definitely be bringing my Osbe helmet and my new Aether ski suit—it is so warm and the fit is like nothing else. I am also planning to bring some good books since I'll be the fifth wheel and expect to have some much-needed quiet time.

I’m going to Jamaica over the holidays and couldn’t be more excited to swap my sweaters and puffy jackets for bathing suits that I plan to live in all day. Etro’s reversible patterned bikini, a Solid & Striped gingham one-piece, a classic tangerine-hued Eres suit, and a floral throw-on-with-anything dress from Réalisation Par for the times when I absolutely have to wear clothes are all on my vacation (and Christmas!) wishlist.

Heading to the islands of Maui, Big Island, and Kauai in Hawaii for the holidays. I’ve been living in turtlenecks and fitted jeans this winter so going to pack everything that is loose and flowy as possible. Probably throw in a pair of Tevas for hiking, Krewe du Optics for the sun, and an Eres swimsuit for the ocean. Oh, and The Age of Insight by Eric Kandel to contemplate all my life decisions for 2017. Aloha, vacation.

This holiday I’m going to be having a staycation with family and friends in New York. It’s an Italian tradition to cook The Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve, which is literally seven fish courses and a meat dish after midnight—and I very mistakenly said I would cook that this year. (Sorry, family! Hope you like lox and bagels?) I’m planning to pack an outfit that goes from kitchen duty to dinner easily. I’m thinking fun Rachel Comey jeans and a poignant tee from my favorite brand, Bliss & Mischief, for my chef turn, followed by a striped blouse and glittery earrings for the dinner table. After that, it’s all flannel pajamas and eggnog!

I have a lot going on over break and the packing situation is going to be quite a mix. First, I’ll spend Christmas with my family in Santa Fe, New Mexico, then fly to Cabo for New Year’s, and finally on to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl (huge college football game for all of the non-bro Vogue readers out there). I’ll bring lots of cozy, casual knits for Santa Fe, plus some sturdy duck boots for walking up Canyon Road on Christmas Eve. For Cabo, I’ll bring a metallic silver slip dress for New Year’s plus a few easy, strapless bikinis. When we go to the game, it’ll be jeans and a sweatshirt supporting my dad’s alma mater Western Michigan—go Broncos! Might have to invest in another extra-large suitcase.

I’m taking a surf getaway in Ixtapa, Mexico. In my suitcase you’ll find a vintage-inspired yellow bikini, cat-eye sunglasses, a spring-weight wetsuit, and a custom Poolside straw bag. When I’m not in the water, I’ll slip on peasant dresses by Ulla Johnson and Melissa Odabash. From there, going from the beach to dinner only requires a set of bigger-is-better earrings (I’m partial to the geometric turquoise confections by Mercedes Salazar). And, to ring in the new year, colorful Magnetic Midnight in lieu of party hats.

First, I am headed to Seoul, Korea, to visit family where my main goal is to stay warm and comfortable. I will be packing a pair of Uggs, cozy pajamas (but cute, since I will be living in them for a week), a Penfield fleece, and a warm, warm winter coat like this Mr & Mrs Italy one. Then, I am headed to Fukuoka, Japan, for Christmas where I plan to bring my Clube Bossa bikini that I have been dying to wear (perfect for the hot springs?!). For New Year’s, so far no plans yet but trying very hard to plan a very-last-minute trip to a beach in Mexico to end 2016 in a bikini!

I am escaping to my parents’ house for what will hopefully be a not-snow-filled Christmas. And while they are just an hour away, it seems that I’ve been plagued to pack like Diana Ross. I’ll throw my laptop, work gear, and requisite book into my Hurley backpack while my Hermès travel tote will keep all my outfits and gifts for others perfect. As for the wardrobe, I’ve been feeling print-on-print of late and my new favorite is Supreme’s floral waffle thermal, which pairs perfectly with my Victoria Beckham embellished pants. For shoes, I always keep it simple in Saint Laurent chelsea boots but for the holidays, I break out a velvet pair.

I’m heading home to the Midwest for Christmas, so my suitcase—a shockingly gorgeous champagne carry-on by Arlo Skye!—will just have the bare essentials: jeans, cashmere sweaters, a velvet dress for Christmas dinner, and boots. However, I think I finally mastered the art of packing light when my family spent Thanksgiving in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, last month. It was the best excuse to bring all my embroidered blouses (like my Mi Golondrina top, which is handmade by women in Mexican villages), two pairs of sandals, one vintage eyelet dress, and about six bikinis. When your daily agenda includes hanging by the pool, walking through Old Town, and drinking margaritas, you don’t need much!

My winter escape plan is a week in Tulum. I’m taking only carry-on luggage packed with little more than an AllSisters bikini, March11 dresses, and a pair of K. Jacques sandals. I’ll squeeze in a good paperback book for a much-needed digital detox and my new favorite Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer Tint with SPF 30, too. What more does a girl need?

I’ll be Seoul-bound first, then Bangkok for Christmas, and Ho Chi Minh City for New Year’s. It’ll be a healthy ratio of beaches and museums.
