Our Favorite Menswear Looks of Fall 2016 Inline
Photo: Yannis Vlamos / Indigitalimages.com1/20“Raf Simons: The best menswear collectsion of the season, from the best menswear designer in the world. I couldn’t choose a favorite look from this collectsion. I chose the first, because I’d like you to go and click through all the others. A great chewed-up chunk of references, from Twin Peaks to Martin Margiela to Cindy Sherman’s Untitled Horrors, all spit up on a giant letterman sweater that looks like something we all may once have owned, but simultaneously like nothing else on earth. I’ve never wanted so much to look like anything in my entire life.”

(See above: That coat! That Christophe Chemin print! That cuff! And don’t get me started on the argyle knit hosiery.) It’s the exact sort of windswept, heavily textured, and faintly bedraggled way I feel this time of year.”

—Chioma Nnadi, Vogue.com Fashion News Director
Photo: Yannis Vlamos / Indigitalimages.com5/20“Virgil Abloh’s latest collectsion for Off-White felt decidedly more adult, and given that I’m hoping to be a tad more tailored in 2016, this white duster and coordinating turtleneck seem destined for my closet. Ditto for the slouchy, wide-leg trousers and cool kicks.”
—Edward Barsamian, Vogue.com Style Editor
Photo: Kim WestonArnold / Indigitalimages.com6/20“Sacai’s Chitose Abe is one of my favorite womenswear designers for her mashed-up textures, statement outerwear, and bold use of color, so it’s easy to find something to love in her men’s collectsions. I’d buy this blanket printed jacket and LIIFE sweatshirt for my boyfriend—and then routinely swipe them both from his closet.”

The collectsion was vibrant from start to finish, but this emerald green look with its clashing patterns, sparkles, and hint of leopard is perfection.”

—Jorden Bickham, Vogue.com Executive Fashion Editor
Photo: Courtesy of Palm Angels9/20“Palm Angels’s debut collectsion has blown me away. Every. Single. Look. It has my all-time favorites, without being sloppy or overwhelming (clearly a personal issue). Francesco Ragazzi offers a touch of hip-hop (that tracksuit is begging for a gold chain!); denim (always); Rasta (Gwen Stefani, please stand up!); traditional menswear (tomorrow I will test-drive the schoolboy blazer over my beloved tracksuit); skate (I seriously need those shearling Vans); army (that camo bucket hat! That army bomber!); and punk (tartan! Leopard print! Could this be another nod to my girl Gwen?). Palm Angels may very well be my new fashion spirit animal.”

—Luke Leitch, Vogue.com Contributor

—Laird Borrelli-Persson, Vogue.com Archive Editor
Photo: Yannis Vlamos / Indigitalimages.com13/20“Gosha Rubchinskiy: Between the huge leather jacket the model is swimming in and those slouchy sweats (plus the dyed hair), this guy looks plucked out of a ’90s suburb of Moscow. It’s all sorts of nostalgic ugly that you can’t help but fall in love with.”

Photo: Yannis Vlamos / Indigitalimages.com16/20“Given I’m a man who works in the world of womenswear, I rarely get the chance to really consider the men’s collectsions. The question for me was would I go for something creative and out there (and which I’d never wear), or something that I felt an instant longing for? This gray flannel Martin Miller suit is all about the latter. And the addition of that armband is one simple moment of genius.”
—Mark Holgate, Vogue Fashion News Director

—Michael Philouze, Vogue Menswear Editor

—Nicole Phelps, Director, Replica Handbag Store Runway
Photo: Kim WestonArnold / Indigitalimages.com19/20“Sacai: Call me traditional, but even in the age of Alessandro Michele’s Gucci, I would still prefer to borrow from the boys than have them borrow from me. Right now I’m all about an oversize camel coat, and you can’t beat the dramatic proportions of going straight for menswear.”
—Selby Drummond, Vogue Senior Accessories Editor
Photo: Yannis Vlamos / Indigitalimages.com20/20“Rei Kawakubo’s meditation on war and peace at Comme des Garçons was not only deeply moving, but it also produced a number of romantic suits with armor-like construction that appeal to the eclectic in me. I wouldn’t mind this blazer with a tee and jeans. Flower headdress optional but preferred.”
