My favorite beauty moment was the extra-long romantic braid at Valentino. Those extensions were so well executed, you truly forgot you were looking at girls whose short, tousled hair you were all too familiar with. What I especially loved was the clever, courageous (in fashion terms) lack of irony: beautiful romantic clothes with beautiful romantic hair.

This one flew a bit under the radar, but I’d be remiss not to shout out James Pecis’s excellent handiwork at Off White. As an aspirational alt-chick who grew up in the ’90s and always wanted to buzz her waist-length locks—or at least part of them—but never had the balls, I was mesmerized by Pecis’s side-shaves that were meant to look as though they had just started to grow back. Had I not seen a photo of the hairpieces he deftly wove into models’ hairlines, I would have 100 percent believed that Pecis and Virgil Abloh convinced Stella Lucia to shave her head. Which would have also been awesome.

I loved the combo of ribbon headbands, swept-back hair, and dangling earrings at Erdem. Thinking about ways I can adapt that to real life, right away . . .

I loved the nails at Balenciaga! Between the long red talons and the sharp, exaggerated shoulders, the Balenciaga woman looks a lot like Rachael in Blade Runner.

Of all the whimsical beauty ideas I spotted backstage at Fashion Week, the most immediately breathtaking remains the romantic hair at Rodarte, where Odile Gilbert left strands of tulle and lace dripping through models’ lengths. So purely pretty, it’s stuck in my mind three weeks later.

The Prada bobby pin. Speaking as a girl who always waits too long for my routine bang trim, a bobby pin can be a lifesaver.

I love the peachy, glossy eye that Val Garland did for the Moncler show. It’s natural-looking yet chic, and super easy for people who have natural dark circles (me!). I’ve been loving the red eye-makeup trend, but feel like this one is a lot more wearable and less vampy.

I have two: Alexander Wang’s blonde surfer hair by Guido Palau was essentially lifted straight from my dreamscape. This is what I always hoped would happen to my hair with enough time in the sun and sea. Still waiting. But on the other end of the spectrum, after weeks of air-dried waves and silky “nothing” hair, Paul Hanlon reminded us what hair can do with otherworldly updos in every shade, texture, and shape imaginable at Gucci. It’s not hair you would wear, but it was gorgeous.

The freckles at Undercover. It took me a long time to come to terms with mine—my dad used to console me by describings them as “angel’s kisses”—now they just make me happy.

I keep going back to Olympia Le-Tan’s graphic dots painted over models’ brows—it felt like a modern version of a noughties hipster headband with the sweaty bangs and I’m-with-the-electro-band smudgy blue undereye liner.

When it comes to makeup, I’ve always concentrated my efforts on a kohl-edged eye or a stained lip and foregone rouge at the risk of looking too “done.” That said, the blush draping at Kenzo has me rethinking everything I know. The ultra-saturated ’80s fuchsia cheek is the stuff of my airbrush-art-loving dreams. Could it be time to tap into my inner Robert Palmer girl?

Though I was partial to the insanely cool, street-inspired braids and topknots at Dior, I have to say I really loved the red-hair tribute to the late Sonia Rykiel. Seeing all of the models with matching crimson, frizzy locks didn’t only look striking, but it felt like exactly the right note and paid a thoughtful, fun, and subtle homage to one of Paris’s most cherished designers.

Pink eye forever! I’m happy to see it around again this season, and even happier that it’s evolved into something pretty. I liked Topshop Unique’s take, but my favorite was Pat McGrath’s version for Anna Sui.

Sometimes the most electric makeup moments are the ones done in a flash, and the graphic yellow look at Haider Ackermann—little more than two quick strokes—proved that to a T. Think of it as a classic cat-eye spun through a Ben Franklin lightning storm.

My favorite beauty moment this season was the kitschy hair accessories worn on and off the runways. Need to make a trip to Claire’s ASAP!

Hood By Air's lascivious homage to ECO Gel wound up being the most titillating beauty moment of Fashion Week. Full of double-entendres and curl definition, the look gave me a chuckle and wet hair tips all in one.
