Photographed by Adrianna Glaviano2/17“This is the entrance to the apartment. I decided to paint the stairs blue to add color and it works well with the combination of the wood and brass that decorate the steps. On the wall to the left underneath a tiny portrait of Frida Kahlo, I hung a picture of my grandmother teaching my mother how to play the piano.”
Photographed by Adrianna Glaviano3/17“The vintage desk, chest of drawers, and Scandinavian chair are all from the ’50s and ’60s and were found in several different flea markets. The swimming pool photograph is from Jean-François Chermann, and the velvet sofa is from AM.PM. On the floor are carpets I purchased on trips to Afghanistan and Morocco.”

Photographed by Adrianna Glaviano5/17“I love to invite friends over and this is usually where we hang out, at the pink and white dining table. The open kitchen was built with blue-green concrete and I added high stools at the bar that are vintage, originally designed by Olavi Hänninen.”
Photographed by Adrianna Glaviano6/17“On the kitchen shelf I keep a Muuto pepper grinder, black stoneware coffee cups made by pottery master Thomas Vivant, a Mariage Frères teapot, a large brass spoon from Morocco, brass cocktail sticks by Style House in New York, and a biscuit box from Brittany.”
Photographed by Adrianna Glaviano7/17“I found the little glass ball on a beach in Kauai. It probably drifted for years. In the middle of the three frames is a drawing I made of my friend, the artist Dustin Yellin, meditating by a lake. To the right is a photograph of my father sailing and on the left, I keep a picture that shows little characters walking on a chocolate cake. Beneath the image it says, ‘Hallucination of a traveler wandering in a chocolate cake next to an indifferent reader.’”
Photographed by Adrianna Glaviano8/17“Me hanging in the middle of hundreds of postcards. Each time I’m traveling or seeing an exhibition I buy a postcard and on it, I write who I was with and what I was thinking or feeling at that exact time.”
Photographed by Adrianna Glaviano9/17“This is a sculpture of my great-grandmother Monelle Valentin made by Guy-Charles Revol. She was an actress and this had been made for the theater that housed a play she was in.”

Photographed by Adrianna Glaviano11/17“Above the row of books and a dinosaur claw, this is an art piece made by my stepfather Jean-François Chermann. The bookshelf was built by the architect Sophie Dries.”
